I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'll trust mod discretion in case it isn't.
Okay. My best friend gave me a Christmas present of a gift card for a place I'll call Movie Store. So come New Year's Eve, I'm at the mall, and stop into Movie Store. I pick up a few things, but don't use the full amount of the card. Later, I'm passing by Movie Store on my way back to the bus stop, and decide to pick up some more things.
I get enough to use the remaining balance. And for some reason, they give me ten bucks cash back. Which I didn't have left after the second purchase. I question this, even show my receipt from the first visit an hour or so earlier. The clerk talks to a manager. Manager tells the clerk not to worry about it. I walk out ten bucks richer. The money was welcome, since payday was a week away. But I felt funny about it. I comfort myself that I did point out the error, and showed documentation. Put the ball in the store's court.
I will say that this place is always a pleasure to visit, and I go there when time and funds permit. My friend did get a chuckle when I told him.
