Well I am not THAT excited..about two more weeks and my fair city (of about 62,000) and the fair city of Sturgis (of about 5,000) will be swamped with over 250,000 motorcyclists for the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Such great fun..I avoid Sturgis that whole week. Last yr I did go to the Buffalo Chip Campground (largest party, drunk, naked fest around) to see Journey in concert. They have some great concerts this yr also..Alice Cooper, Kid Rock, David Lee Roth, Montgomery Gentry, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Thorogood, Ted Nugent, Billy Idol, Foreigner..just to name a few.. There is another campground that is having an all out concert series too..they have lined up Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon..well there is more but I can't remember them all..I know I wanted to go to a few but not enough money or time. I rarely get any time off from work during that time frame because of how busy it is. We have to watch out for motorcyles galore..Most of the people are awesome, they come from all over the world for this..I usually don't have too many issues with them..it is mainly the locals who get frustrated with the traffic and tend to take it out on everyone else.

Then it is the Central States Fair which is about a week or so after the Rally, my resturant is only about a quarter of a mile down from the fairgrounds so we will be extremely busy. A few years ago, my store gave out "buddy" passes to the fair..well we stopped that about three yrs ago and every yr people come in asking for the passes..they won't buy anything..just ask for passes..drives me crazy..and the other taco joint (think bell) gives away some type of pass for the fair also, so we always get people in asking us for those and I have to remind them that we aren't the bell. I am so looking forward to the month of August..NOT!!!!:p :D

OMG the day and night constant drone of baffless Harleys - kill me now. >:(

Zooming up and down my street in that lost way of theirs in the middle of the frelling night, that stupid bar on Sturgis Road, or stopping at the Stop-n-Rob at the corner near work. Yes pleeeeeease see if your bike will stop the semi when HE has the green light and you just don't feel like stopping at the red light. And by the way, runaway port-a-potties can kill. That poor Texas biker.... the only one I've ever felt sorry for.

Thank your lucky stars Ladodger that you will miss most of the biker hell that is the Sturgis Rally.

I really don't mind most bikers, I've been putting up with the Rally since my Dad moved us to Rapid in 1969, but it is the complete and utter yahoos out there who leave their commonsense, if they had any in the first place, at home that drive me completely nuts. Plus the constant droning that I just can't escape from.

Yes those monkey bar handle bars are illegal in this state and you will be forced to stop riding your bike. How does anybody ride for hours on end with their hands up that high all day without them falling asleep I don't understand.

Baffles, please get baffles in those HDs if you are going to be pealing in and out of neighborhoods at all hours. I'd rather have a hoard of Goldwings going by at o'dark thirty than Harleys any day.

Pay attention to red lights, they mean stop and that does include you biker dude and your extremely this close to indecensy biker chick. Just remember that bikes are small and are sometimes not easy to see as you are, illegally, weaving in and out of traffic.

Just remember biker chick that one long strap does not an outfit make, I heard that guys!, but if you must show off all your naughty bits than use sunscreen. Sunburned boobies and buns aren't pleasant.

Drink water. Lots of water not beer. It was 110F (39C approx) in the shade two weekends ago and it is supposed to be 99F tomorrow. This is South Dakota, it is summer, and you are in the booneys on I-90 with narry a shade tree in sight until you get to the Hills. Drink water.

Jnd4rusty, yea I can hear the Buck-n-Gator too plus all the traffic on Sturgis Road. So we aren't to far away from each other. Don't you just love the road construction on West Chicago between Sturgis Road and Deadwood Avenue? How much you wanna bet that the bridge work in Sturgis isn't going to be done in time for the Rally?
