OK, I'll make it short and sweet. I'm trying to build a RAID 5 array using five 250 GB hard drives on my fileserver. I want to do it via software in winXP. I can find plenty of FAQs telling me how to do it. I have to modify a few files in a Hex editor to get windows to allow me to use RAID 5. That part I know how to do.
The part I need help with is how do I back up the configuration so, if my OS decides to go 6 feet under, I can simply reload the OS, reapply the moded files, and have access to all my data. I remember reading awhile ago that there is a single configuration file that I can backip and copy back into the proper location and windows will then recognise the software RAID Array. However, I don't remember what file or where it is. That's what I need your help for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
