This thread is kind of an extension of my "Do you currently like or dislike where you live?" thread.

I have been seriously considering a relocation to the midwest(KC, Missouri area roughly). What suggestion would you folks have for doing this?

Fortunately, I have family and friends out there, so it won't be like I'm going out to a totally new area where I don't know a soul. I've been out that way several times, and loved it each time. the people are really nice, and from what I hear, the job market is pretty decent. Thus, it would be a pretty nice place to live it seems.

Also, as I mentioned in my previous thread, Pennsylvania, my current state of residence just flat out SUCKS on so many levels. It's time to go.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

if you have the resources and the motive, go for it! rent is fairly cheap if you're not picky, lots of wide-open spaces, and you can get all the good fireworks in missouri.

one suggestion would be to make sure you have access to a reliable vehicle, public transportation sucks most places out this way and even then it's a good thing to have a vehicle.

I'll hopefully be in jersey in about 6 months, but I don't think they let you live off-base during coast-gaurd boot camp :(

Definitely have the motive, and I am steadily stockpiling the resources. Definitely not picky about places rent-wise. Not only are there lots of wide open spaces, it's mostly flat too, which is definitely an improvement over Pennsylvania. The hills here may be nice to look at, but they are a pain in the butt to travel over, especially in Winter when there are icy, crappy roads to deal with.

Vehicle isn't a problem either, so I'm almost good to go! Just need to save a little bit more $$$ and figure out logistics.
