When stopped at a red light that's about to turn green IS NOT the time to decide to put up or down your top.

Neither is at a stop sign with cards behind you.

Neither is the drive though.

Neither is in a parking lot while you're blocking traffic.

Like I told an airhead who blocked a whole traffic lane for failing to notice the light turned green : *rolls down window* "IT AIN'T GONNA GET ANY GREENER!" *rolls up window*

You mean in your town, people stop at stop signs? Wow. Tell me where you live, I'd save so much on nerve pills!

Me, I'm not getting one EVER unless it's a power-up/down... and preferably a powered hard-top convertible. Heh... that's down on the list below buying a house and getting the car I HAVE fixed.

Yes, they use the stop signs to put up (or down) the tops on their convertibles!

Then I need to get people to buy more convertibles.
I'd save on a lot of pants.
If you get my drift.

Becks, those are those odd-shapped things NJ has at the end of the ramps when getting onto the freeway.

Actually, on Route 3 (for one example), a lot of the on ramps are near bridges, so there isn't an actual on lane. That and people only ride the slow lane to take up space. I HATE Route 3.

If you want to have some fun, start on Route 1, then turn left onto Route 2, jump over to Route 3, then turn left onto Route 4. You'll be at UNH in no time!

Too bad Route 5 isn't nearby or else you could go up to 6.

I would also suggest not opening the top when you're in the middle of an automated car wash cycle.
Yeah I know the sign doesn't say not to open convertible tops, but it does say to roll up all windows, I figured the roof would have been implied.
Yeah that idiot cost me a day in court.

My version of this is "Are you waiting for a particular SHADE of green?"

Only complete wusses put the tops up on their convertibles (unless there is actual precipitation). I've been driving my hubby's Saab convertible around for the last few days, schlepping up and down the motorways to attend to family business, and had the top down all the time. Sometimes its cold, but I have a warm sweater and I can put the heating on...

Most cars with power-actuated roofs won't actauuly allow you you to actuate them above a certain speed, about 40 to 60 km/h.

I drive some of my friends nuts when they ride in the Jestermobile, as I am the only person they know who actually comes to a full and complete stop at stop signs. No, really....I do. Weird, I know.

Because apparently no one else does. Most people just slow down and roll through the stop sign while looking around. Some people don't even bother doing that, just blasting through ignoring said stop sign. And at least one person I have encountered felt that he could ignore the stop sign AND the truck stopped at it in front of him as he PLOWED RIGHT INTO THE REAR OF MY DAMN TRUCK.

Freakin' idiot. He was the reason my five day stay in the New Orleans area turned into a monthlong stay, as I waited on repairs. And he seemed genuinely shocked at my very upset reaction. He actually said to me, "What? You act as if you've never been in an accident before!" To which I replied, quite venomously, "Actually, no. I've been driving for TEN YEARS and I've NEVER been in an accident before. Imagine that!"

Not surprisingly, he was on his way....to a court date. I was not surprised.

I always stop at stop signs. Cops sit just around the corners in too many areas not to--they just *love* to nail people for running them. The only time I don't worry about them, is if the roads are icy. Trying to stop on snowy/icy roads is damn near impossible and dangerous. Rather than risk sliding or spinning, I slow down enough that I can look--if nobody's coming, I just ease through it.
