I am going to take a class in Pastry arts this September. The school offers non-credited courses that non-students can take.
This way I can see if I have a talent for it. I have always wanted to be a pastry chef. I bake very well, but have never "made up" my own recipes and I don't decorate very well. I am hoping I can learn these things.
If I do well (and enjoy it), then come next September (most likely), I will enroll full-time at the school and wait tables for money. My husband has been so supportive, it's wonderful.
Wish me luck!

If they don't teach you to make fried pies then go to another school. :D
I would love to go to culinary school but that won't happen until I get all my baby's through college. Good luck and I'm always up for sweet treats especially dark chocolate.

Is it just me, or does "ZumZum's Bakery" sound like a great name for a shop? :D
 to you and best of luck!!
decorating takes ALOT of practise, on craft nights, we had an icing expert come on behalf of our edible decoration line of products and she has been doing it for over 40 years
she says it took a few years to get good, now she can do it with out thinking, so dont be upset if your not an absolute artist in 2 weeks or even 2 months!
good luck with the course though!

OMG! I LOVE it!!! DH thinks it should just be ZumZum Bakery though! LOL
Thanks for all the offers of taste-testers, that is one thing I am NOT hurting for! LOL
I will keep you all in mind, though.

That sounds like great fun, and I wish you the best of luck! And I'm glad hubby's supportive of you, that's always helpful. It's nice to have support when following one's dreams. :)
