As most of you Know Yesterday I went to The Kentucky Derby. We left Friday night and " camped out in a veterinary supply stores parking lot. I was freezing the whole trip up. When we got there I put on a long sleeved shirt and jacket.
Once we got there we sat around and bullcrapped then we ate some wings and Mozzarella sticks and drank then we tried to get some sleep I slept in a sleeping bag on the sidewalk on the store needless to say it wasnt too comfortable.
Yesterday morning I awoke to the sound of several helicopters buzzing the area it was like I was in MASH. We get to Churchill about 9 ya have to go through a tunnell to get into the infield . I also had to empty my pockets and get patted down on the way in.
My breakfast was a reg 16 oz bottle of Mountain Dew and a Chicken Sand
wich it was $11 which is outrageous but nearly everything there was Mint Juleps were $9 Beer Was $6 Bottled water and soda was $4
We get to our spot wait around 4 2 hrs then finally a race I win the first 2 races then dont win again Until I have Street Sense and Hard Spun as part of my box exacta I won $50 and change on that. The betting lines were long all day Many of the windows were staffed by temps who didnt know what they were doing. there were alot of screwed up tickets. After The Derby I stood in line for a good 45 min waiting to cash my ticket / bet on the next race. a couple of windows ran out of money I barely get my bet off and I watch that race from the window area I lose that one but by this time the lines are very short a lot of people left after the Derby. I bet on the last race and hit a $15 exacta. Then we walk back to camp drink do some wings fries and mozzarella sticks and go back to Cincinnati. The guy I rode with had left his lights on all night and It killed his battery we had to get a jump from one of the other guys so we cold get home.
I had a real ggod time and Im no longer a Derby "Virgin" Im already looking forward to next year
Interesting sidenote in races 4-10 (10 being the Derby) in 5 of 6 on those the #7 horse won
