SOOOO
As this matter is not solved I won’t say what happened, just that I ordered something online and 2 days later, I check bank details and they have double billed me, I'm now short money and I can't afford to be short! I have rent and bills to pay for!! I freaked out, I find the store I ordered from, and find that the head office is in another state and they don't have a free call number :( but I need my money back, so I had no choice but to call, but it’s going to cost me

So I've called, and they said they "will find my records" and "do what they can"...”but it's going to take them a few days to find my records”” and they don’t guarantee anything”...so I'm not happy, they took my money, they didn’t have permission to take that money, but yet they are not promising to give it back!

I looked at the website, and looked up the returns policies, they only really offer replacements or vouchers. I will not accept a voucher for double billing. So yeah, I have the records of the payment, the recite, the date payed and the date debited. So there is proof that I only needed to pay what I payed (as stated on the recite), I also have records on my bank details of the second debit.

If this is what happens when you pay for things online I don't think I'll do it again.

OH I might point out I’ve been calm and cool headed and not been an SC, I know you get more flies with honey than vinegar so I will endeavour not to loose my cool. But if they don’t give the money back I might see red.

GAH I don't need this now!

CONTACT YOUR BANK ASAP!!! Put the second charge in dispute with your bank. They should credit the money back pending an investigation, at which point all the retailer has to do is fess up that it was double billed in error and you are in the clear.

That is just shady that they don't have a number you can call, it's even MORE shady that they are treating your dispute with such minimal care. I'd look further into it and make sure that site is legit.

It's a mistake that can happen to anyone who orders online, but 99% of the time, calling the number and speaking with a rep is all it takes to get the charge credited back to you. Most of the time they realize it's their own mistake and are happy to fix it for you.

That is, of course, if they are a legitimate company. If they are frauds.....they won't have a number or it will be impossible to find, and they will have a ridiculous return policy like the one you just stated.

Definitely call your bank and let them know what happened.

My bank gives me no hassles for disputes. And if the company gets on the ball and handles it, then all things are taken care of, and if they don't, then the bank should do a chargeback on them, and they will have to eat the fees that would incur with their own financial institution. (it's not cheap)

little update, now that I've calmed.

Got fencie to call them back, and he got a lovely young lady who explained that the online ordering was new and that they were having a lot of problems with it. She also said that they will be more than happy to re-fund the money, and that they will be doing it withing 48 hours, and will call once it's done, as it's taking a while to find all the records.

So yeah, sometimes it pays to not just be nice, but also a little patcient, I think if I had lost my cool when I called that first time (even tho yes I was freaking out) I think it would have taken longer. So yes, I will hopefully have my money soon! and all will be well with the world. YAY

Sounds like they need to get more organized, and in the meantime, train the people answering the phone to at least sound like they are on the ball. I am always hesitant to order online from a company I'm not familiar with. I always check into their return and privacy/security policies and if anything seems iffy I won't order. And I always use a credit card, never my debit card, just in case.

Well it's time to ring the bank. I actually THOUGHT that this book store was going to be helpful after that last call. The lady seemed nice. BUT It's been MORE than 48 hours and I've not got a call or had the money returned.

So, I will be calling the Bank on Monday (yes should have done it before BUT I thought the Book store was returning the money without me needing to dustpute the charge) So yes, when the bank is open I'll be giving them a nice little call. (they don't take calls on weekends *sigh*)
