So a couple weeks ago I dropped my iPod in a cup of diet coke and the screen went blank (and bubbly) and it played for a little while and then stopped working all together. You may remember I posted about it and the consensus was that it was dead I was out of luck. So it's been sitting on my dresser ever since, upside down so any soda could drain out the top, and so it could dry out.
Today I decided to finally plug it in and see if it would do anything, and the screen came back and it played and everything. Now it's charging and it looks like I can spend my recent $200 windfall on something else fun!
Everybody cheer! Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!! <waves pompoms> :D
This is the highlight of my weekend. Yes, my life is dull :o

 That's great. I dropped a hearing aid in the sink once - fortunately it worked after it dried out.

Electronics are funny things...I have a friend whose hearing aid broke (just the outside case) and they just keep glueing it back together...

I've dropped my iPod more times than I can count, spilled beverages on it at least three times, stepped on it, and left it sitting out in the hot sun for hours.
For a year, nothing could break this f&*%er.
Until the latest iTunes update. iTunes 7.0 took it down in about two minutes.
I have a love/hate relationship with Apple.

When I worked on the cell side of the business, I heard many a story about how a cell phone dropped in water/spilled on could be put in the oven at a relatively low heat to dry out and return to service with few, if any, ill effects.
Yay for you, BE!! :D

Hehe, Cinema Guy - Your sig made me go download that song last week, even though I had no iPod to play it on. I made a new playlist and burned it onto a CD just for that song.:D

Cool. Now you can put it on your iPod.
I love it when it shows up in unlikely places. They used it in Doctor Who Confidential this week. There was a cinema advert for a big X-box game that used it a little while ago - I was showing people to their seats while singing my head off!

That has been one of my favourite songs for a very long time. Props to Gary Jules for his incredible version.

Maybe you should try dropping it in a bucket of Diet Coke and leaving to dry for 2 weeks...here, let me mix you up a vat :potstir:

I had that problem too. The previous version was working just fine...until I installed 7.0. Then multiple songs started disappearing and I had to reformat and reload the entire thing. That was about 6 months ago, and I'm nowhere near done :(
At least if I drop my iPod now, I know how to fix it--pop off the cover, and re-seat the drive cable. Simple fix, even though the local crApple store wanted $300+ to ship it out and repair

Heheh, I just refuse to update my iTunes. All I use it for is transferring music - I don't need anything else :)
