I went to see sicko today even though I thought it would be packed (being opening day and all). I went to a upscale and popular mall because it was the closest theatre I could get to via bus. The movie was amazing! I have seen movies that have made me laugh, one that has made me cry but nothing else made me do both in the same film!! I may not completely agree with everything Moore says or how he chooses to say it but it was a really compelling movie.

I expected the theatre to be packed on a Friday night opening show. All the signs where there- increased security, tons of people excitement in the air. I was pretty darn happy about this! YES!!! people actually caring about an important issue and this movie will truly give us a kick in the butt. Imagine my surprise when I was only joined by 10 or so other people to view the movie. Where were all the crowds coming from?? Oh.. right... the iphone was released. Every store that sold it had people camping outside in chairs wrapped around the corner. Innovative and nice though it may be ITS A FREAKING PHONE. *sighs*

Id love to hear your thoughts on this movie/issue.

I haven't seen the movie but I did see Michael Moore on The Daily Show the other day. Sad thing is he was saying he was supposed to have the full hour of Larry King that day, and he got bumped...for Paris Hilton!

And sorry, but I will never spend 600 bucks on a phone, unless it can cook me dinner and do my laundry too...(Jon Stewart was making fun of that one last night, too).

Sicko was leaked to the internet a few weeks ago... maybe that held down the crowds. As Michael Moore is on record as saying he doesn't like copyright laws and doesn't mind people downloading his movies -- as long as no else is making a profit -- I didn't have much of a guilt trip from seeing a "preview" copy. Actually, given the quality of the download, I'm not alone in guessing it came from... Michael Moore himself.
