View Full Version : take out
Why does take out food always suck? I don't mean b/c it was steaming itself in the container until I get home. And I don't mean fast food. Take out from nice expensive restaurants.
It's never as good, you never get as much, and there is always something missing. *sigh*
Is it just me?

Nope, not just you. I don't really understand why all these sit-down places (Chili's, Applebees, 99) decided to try to do take-out, but their food is not designed to be portable. It is designed to be cooked and served immediately. Inevitably, you have a ticked off waiter/ess just throwing whatever in the bag because they don't get tipped to pack up to-go orders, then it sits and stews in its own steam for 15-20 mins and everything gets soggy. BLECH!

The best take out food I ever had is from local restaurants that cater to it. One is this place called Kruese and Meurs. They're famous for their bread and I mean it. This bread was gone in 2 minutes when 2 loaves were bought for the entire cross-country team. A lot of my friends and I will order it if we feel like it. All I can say is that this is some of the best bread you will have. And then there's a local Italian place that has the word express in it's name so it's carryout only. Good food there too but I am not a big fan of takeout from Applebees and so on.
