Okay, so GK is visiting me this weekend. She should be here in a few hours.

Because of her visit, I scheduled the plumber that came out here before to come back to auger my lines so we have a functional bathroom. They said he'd be here between 3-5pm. I gave them my cell phone number to call me at before he came so I could get as much time in at work as I could.

4:20 pm rolled around. I called the company, and asked a polite WTF? The receptionist told me they had to reschedule as they couldn't reach me. No, you haven't tried. My cell phone's been on me at all times. She said she left messages at the house (which, judging by my caller ID was 10 minutes after I called home to check for messages), and she tried calling my my cell, but she was getting a message that the service was not available. She asked what my cell phone number was. I gave it to her. By now I figured out what she did. "That's nothing close to what I have."

"Let me guess. The number you have is (insert old cell phone number here)."

"Yeah."

"I gave you my NEW cell phone number to call when I set the appointment."

"Well, we'll have to reschedule on Tuesday."

"I need my plumbing fixed tonight. Even if I have to pay the after hours fee."

"Well, "add some hem and hawing, "I guess we can fit you in at 7pm."

"Since this is your fault, will I have to pay the after hours fee?"

Add more hem hawing, "That's really not my call."

So, it's now 6:53pm, and I haven't heard anything.

I just left a message on their emergency line. We'll see if anyone gets ahold of me.

So, how nasty do I get?

Just got a call from the plumber, he's running behind. Which kinda blows any plans of GK and I doing anything tonight.

That's a load of crap. No pun intended.

I married into a family of plumbers, and my advice to you is: no, do not pay any after hours fee, find another plumber. Also, write a letter to the Better Business Bureau. Even if you never use them again, they'll be contacted by the BBB to let them know that they screwed up and what do they plan to do about it. Companies HATE it when they're mistakes become public knowledge- well most companies do anyway.
