I HATE BARRY BONDS!

There, now that I have it out of my system I can start my day correctly.

I had to Google him.

Is there a reason you hate him?

Maybe it had something to do with the controversy about him taking steroids and now him breaking Hank Aaron's record.

A-Rod is expected to break Bond's record at the rate he is going.

I second your opinion Sportsmom.

I don't give a damn if he broke Hank Aaron's record. That's just paperwork. The fact remains is that Bonds had to pump himself full of steroids to get even close to the kind of athlete Aaron was.

I used to live and breathe Major League baseball, and now I can't stand to watch a game. I just can't look at the players the same way.

Ah, okay. I knew nothing about any of this. If he did take steroids then he doesn't deserve any notority for breaking Hank Aaron's record. Period.

I shall now take my leave as I'm not a baseball fan. :D

I was just watching "Mike and Mike in the morning" on ESPN, and Bob Costas raised a very good point, people want to say "yeah, he was on something, but he's still the best ever," well, he can't be the best ever if he had to take something to break the record. If Bonds had retired back in 98-99, he wouldn't even be close to being considered for one of the best ever. He would be a good player, but not one of the best.

I can't stand the fact that he broke the record, and others, while juiced, he is an asshole of the highest order, and people line up to suck on his jockstrap. He isn't even half the MAN Hank Aaron is. Not ballplayer, Man, and there is a huge difference. Hank Aaron is a man of class and talent who got where he did on hard work, talent and without the drugs. Hank Aaron suffered through death threats and horrible racism and taunting by the "fans" during his run. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution had an obituary written out just in case some nut job decided to do more than threaten him.

I'm just sick of Bonds and now that's all we're going to hear about for the next week.

Personally, I hope A Rod breaks his record. I would rather have him hold the record than Bonds.

When it came across the TV last night the wife and I both look at eachother and just mutter "Motherfucking hell". Yeah We both hate Balco Barry, He couldn't have come nearlyt his far if he wasn't juicing it. Now I'm cheering A-Rod on (my god, I can't believe I'm pulling for a yankee :) ).

I feel sorry for the poor folks who had to clean up that stadium afterwards, I think it happened in SF so it was a bunch of happy fans. But you know that they had to trash that place.

I saw Barroid's home run live on ESPN2 last night, but only because the Brewers were stinking out the joint as they usually do lately.

I used to collect baseball cards and I think at one time I had one of Barry's earliest cards (if only I knew then what I know now about the resale value of baseball cards ). I had a few other cards of his and I don't recall him being quite so big as he is now.

I'm tired of hearing about him already. As far as I'm concerned, he had to *cheat* to break the records, simply because he sucks. He was a whiny little jerk when he was here, and he still is. IIRC, he was constantly bitching about pay when he was here. He needs to just go away :)

Ugh. I despise him with every fiber of my being.

I sincerely hope that they find something on him that will disallow his last 100+ HRs.

I stopped following baseball when the steroids thing gathered steam. Bonds will never be what Aaron or Ruth will ever be.

I went to a pub last night with friends...just wanted to have a calm relaxing night out and a couple of drinks before we left for Vegas.

Alas that was not to be thanks to a baseball game on the TV. People were running around and screaming at the top of their lungs...something about this same idiot y'all are talking about.

Of course, if I'd known that the game was on and it was a big deal of some sort, we would've stayed away...hell, I didn't even know it was baseball season...thought it ended awhile ago.

(Can you tell I'm not really a sports person? Just like my wrestling and UFC...)

I was listening to radio last night, and when I heard the news my first thought was 'Who gives a shit.' (I hate most sports in general, and not just because I suck at all of them) Second thought was 'I guaran-damn-tee you that certain people, like, oh, say, those trapped miners in Utah and their worried families/friends right now? Do not give one rat's flying fart about Bonds' supposed glory.'

Damn. Baseball Tonight had a boot-licking Barry Bonds episode last night, it made me mad. The guy is a jerk. Hank Aaron was one of the best players, on and of the field, in MLB history. To see this punk break his record was awful.

Anyone see the Hank Aaron video "accolade" that was shown that night at the softball field that is San Francisco's baseball stadium? He looked and sounded like he was reading from a prepared script -- written by Bonds sycophants, no doubt -- and the whole thing was a bit stiff, IMHO. It was disgusting and embarrassing for a gentleman athlete like that to have to publicly praise a selfish, lying cheater like Bonds.

And I'm not even a baseball fan!

To make it worse, I was watching "First Take" on ESPN the next morning and one of the idiots on there had the nerve to say that he didn't think taking steroids was cheating.

I wanted to go through the TV after that asshole. To sit there and say that steroids is not cheating is just a wonderful impression to leave on a generation of teenage boys who look up to pro athletes. Not to mention the fact that ESPN broadcasting that attitude in the face of them giving Tony Stewart a load of hell for saying he was going to go drink a case of beer after he won a race. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Stewart should have said that either, but you can't come down on one and not the other. Particularly since drinking is legal over a certain age while anabolic steroids are not.

My step-dad has his rookie card. Barry Bonds was one skinny mofo when he started out in the MLB. I guess he hit puberty a second time in his mid-20s...

Personally, I think it's a load of crap. And if Pete Rose can't get in the hall of fame, Barry Bonds sure as hell shouldn't.

But don't worry folks. A Rod will, without a doubt, break the home run record.

You guys ARE all aware that it's never been proven, yes?

And also aware that he's passed something on the number of EVERY steroids test they've made him take since this began?

Exactly. He wouldn't have passed Hank, if it was not for the drugs.

Exactly. Barry, should not be in HOF.

Pete Rose thoroughly broke one of baseball's rules though. Proven, might I add, with EVIDENCE, and his admittance earlier last year.

Barry Bonds DID break the home run record, has NOT yet been proven to have taken steroids, despite tests, allegations, and some d-bag's book claiming he did.

Until he:

A) Fails a drug/steroid test

B) Has concrete hard evidence that he DID use steroids

C) Admits (doubt it if he's denied it this long) that he at one time or another used steroids, he is what we call in what's supposed to be America:

INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty.

So unless one of you can show me proof he did it, unlike the ticket stubs and gambling slips with Pete Rose's name and sig's on them, Barry Bonds is still the Home Run King.

Fact is, he can see the ball coming, and make contact. Now I challenge someone to show me that steroids enhance reflexes, and hand-eye coordination in addition to just muscle mass. Just cause you're big and muscled doesn't make you a hitter.

OK children, here's an important lesson. What have we learned here? You have to cheat to win. That's all.

I used to live and breathe Major League baseball, and now I can't stand to watch a game. I just can't look at the players the same way.

Same here, but I still see an occasional 'classic' player. We lost one during the Marlin's "fire sale" last year, Jeff Conine. Didn't have a bad reputation for anything (like the pitcher who was tazered by Aventura police a few weeks ago) was very active in the community and owns a pretty good resturant.

I used to collect baseball cards and I think at one time I had one of Barry's earliest cards (if only I knew then what I know now about the resale value of baseball cards ). I had a few other cards of his and I don't recall him being quite so big as he is now.

I still have a few of them, they'll go up after he retuires then skyrocket when he's inducted into the hall of fame.

My step-dad has his rookie card. Barry Bonds was one skinny mofo when he started out in the MLB. I guess he hit puberty a second time in his mid-20s...

I agree. Pete Rose didn't do anything to interfere with the game, in fact, he bet on HIS WON TEAM. So he had extra moviation to win.

Bonds used performance enhancing drugs which did interfer with the game.

I liked him when it was him, Will Clark, and Matt Williams as the 'cleanup' crew. But not anymore.

Darth, I'm not saying the guy wasn't a great player to begin with. He was a very good player before he started juicing.

Yes, he has passed tests -in the past-when was the last time he was tested? I don't think it's been anytime recently.

Let me ask you a question, have you ever seen a 37 year old man bulk up like he did? As quickly as he did? Last time I checked an adult's head doesn't grow after they finish puberty without something going on, so either he's juicing or he's got something. Why won't he talk if he has nothing to hide?

The Evolution of Barry Bonds (http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1640086_1640085,00.html)

I'm sorry, but I just don't think he's "all natural".

I'm not trying to jump on you, I just want to understand your side of the issue.

DarthRetard

He won't talk because none of you presumptuous people, and I mean all of you, will never listen to him even if he does, because of assholes in the media. If he's never been proven over the years, why should he have to talk? Leave the man alone.

Here's some examples of other people getting bigger as they get older:

Tiger Woods is in his 30's now. Look how much more muscled and built he is than he was ten years ago.

Randy Couture(UFC)- He's 42 (or 41, dont remember if that bastard even ages.) and he's lost only a few matches, and is still built like a truck.

And are you going to tell me that Lance Armstrong should be any less analyzed? Winning the Tour De France 7 years in a row after almost dying of cancer? No, he's considered a hero by most for his willpower.

Well what makes Barry any different?

And if you pay close attention to that Time article (see what I said about the media sticking it's nose where it shouldn't be? Liberal elitist bastards.), you'll see he's been at the same weight since 2001. Thats been 6 years. So the flow of growth so far has obviously been stemmed.

My argument, is that none of us are experts, and none of us know. So for me, personally, until I know that he did it? It's like Michael Jackson all over again. He's innocent until proven guilty just like everyone else.

And you have yet to show to me how him taking steroids EVER made it possible to hit the ball more accurately.

(my apologies if this came off a bit aggressive, I'm trying to get a point across. Hope I didn't offend anyone.)
