The Eve Online Thread

Well since there was a WoW thread I thought I would bring up a Eve Online thread. Does anyone these days play Eve Online besides me? I am one of the Directors in a nice Mercenary Corporation. Been playing Eve for about 3 years now. Anyone else?

I do not play, but my husband does. He heard a rumor that Samuel L. Jackson plays Eve so every time he is on he looks for a ship called "Bad Mother******". :lol:

Tried the 2 week trial, never played it again. I love me some sim games but EVE is pretty....whats the word I'm looking for? It felt like I was suppose to take a 2 week study course before logging in. Then there's that interface...<wince>. Is it a good game? I don't know. But it certainly doesn't win itself any new players with that kind of introduction. Big turn off, imo.

I don't mind games with a learning curve, but it doesn't even throw you a bone to begin with really.

That being said I'm no WoW fan either. WoW is to MMOs what McDonalds is to food. I did go back for BC hoping they'd fixed some of the problems., but all they did was tack on 10 more levels of the exact same crap. Plus it has such an awful, awful AWFUL community.

Currently playing EQ2 myself. Just picked it up last month. Never cared for it when it first came out but apparently they did a serious overhaul of the entire game a while back. So its a good game, just had to wait 3 years.... :confused:

It's Sony, what do you expect? From what I hear, they're still doing overhauls on Star Wars Galaxies.

As for EVE, I almost tried it, but a bad experience with Earth and Beyond put me off the space MMOs for too long and I found other games instead, though it sounds like this might have been a decent choice for me. Is it hard to get into this far along? (Some games just get more difficult for newbies once there's an established player base. FFXI anyone?)

TTO Plays Eve, and has been for nearly two years. He's pretty good at it, got a carrier and everything.
I'm thinking about playing it, but i honestly wouldn't have the time...

Honestly? I'm surprised it was a good game even after 3 years to fix it up. Normally I wouldn't trust Sony to lay out a game of checkers right. As far as their online ventures go everything they touch rots and dies.

I'm an old DaoCer myself, but Mythic really managed to fark that game over slowly and painfully. They started reversing a lot of the damage in the last 6 months or so but wow, talk about too little to late. On the upside, hopefully Warhammer will be awesome. -.-

DaoC still has the best pvp model on the market ( sadly enough ). So I'm hoping on Warhammer...

Well Gravekeeper they did improve the interface and the tutorials, I am not sure at what point you played but Revelations 2 is out.


The thing about eve is you do not have to give so much time into it your skills whether your online or sleeping so its all the same. I am about 75 day training time for a Carrier not that I want one at the moment.

I tried it, but I'm looking for more speed in my space games. I want nice zippy little dogfights through debis fields and asteroids while the dread pirate Ogre adds another victim to his rolls. (Yah, I loved the two Privateer games, can you tell? :D ) EVE felt like captaining a capitol ship: Give an order, then wait for it to happen. It just didn't do it for me.

EVE is still the greatest!! My GF and I play and have 4 accounts with each having a main char with 60 million skill points. If you are ingame look me up sometime.

I'm also looking for a freighter hauler to move a POS in Empire.
