yesterday I went to put on one of my NEW bras and noticed that the strap was broken in two...:confused::confused: Figuring I would just take it back to the store and get it replaced as it was new and shouldn't have broken so fast I just got another bra and was on my way.
Fast forward to today, I pick up a singlet top (that I had on the day before) and notice that it too has a strap broken...only this time it's wet and has a been broken into 4 pieces...
Basically I put two and two together, I looked down and there is Bayley (my cat) sitting there looking up at me so very innocently.
She's been friggen chewing my clothes! Oh well, good excuse to go clothes shopping, I'll just have to make sure I keep them out of reach of the little shit!

I have a cat who likes to chew up wires. The first one was to the sensor to the indoor/outdoor thermometer. He's also chewed up the wires connecting the cheap speakers that go with the cheap stereo I still have from my old apartment almost 20 years ago, as well as the phone cords. Thankfully, he hasn't been able to chew thru anything that could hurt him, although I did find some teeth marks on some power cords.

I came home from work on my lunch break last week and kicked my shoes off at the door. Then I went upstairs to check my e-mail.
My dog was apparently angry with me for having left him for the day, because when I came back down five minutes later, my work shoes were torn to shreds.
I went back to work that afternoon wearing Chuck Taylor high tops with my dress pants and blouse, and spent the rest of the day worrying about the District Manager or a mystery shopper coming in.

Our cat likes to chew cardboard boxes. Not a big problem, you might think except he seems like boxes with things in them! Which is causing problems at the moment as we're doing up part of the house so lots of full boxes. He nearly got re-homed when he attacked the box with a new monitor in it!

One of my cats hasn't been declawed yet*. Her favorite passtime is scratching boxes. One day, she started scratching a box, stopped, looked around to make sure I wasn't watching, and started scratching again. (I have excellent periphial (sp?) vision, so she didn't know I was watching.
*I am against declawing, but when we move to the new place, we will be 100% responsible for the brand new carpeting they are installing, and Em loves few things better then scratching the carpeting. I looked into the caps, but that doesn't seem like a good option for us.

You do know that it's not anger - it's loneliness, and the fact that your shoes smell of you and are a nice comforting texture to chew on.
Make sure he/she has a good chew toy, and don't leave shoes where he/she has access to them.

Try them anyway, before you move. One of my cats will chew them off almost instantly, the other cat is fine with them. It takes some time to get used to applying them, but they're a hell of a lot better than amputation of the paw 'fingers' from the last joint out.

I second this. There's also the risk of your cat turning into a biter, as once they've lost their first and foremost means of defense they'll often turn to biting instead, which believe me is worse than claws. I had a cat once that my mother had his front paws done against my wishes, and he got very bite-happy after that. Can't say I blame him, really, but it pissed me off that my mom did that, even when I'd told her that declawing was nothing more than them chopping off what basically amounts to a cat's fingertips.

When one of my cats, Emma, was a kitten she liked to chew up shoes. Not the cheap ones of course. She had a taste for imported leather. Needless to say, I started locking my shoes up in the closet as soon as I took them off.
I feel your pain ;)

A few years ago, my sister and I were watching tv in the living room. My sister had her cockatiel out and about on her shoulder and I was playing solitaire on the floor. (With actual cards, not the computer;)) I went up to use the bathroom, and when I came back, the little mini-velociraptor was on my playing cards and chewing one of my aces while my sister just watched and laughed. She thought it was cute. Okay, so did I, but I also thought it was irritating. Plus, that bird hates me. So when I tried to pick her up off my cards, she started hissing at me, flapping her wings, and biting me. And now you know why I call her a mini-velociraptor. By the way, she still hates me.

My cats are declawed (not my decision), and they don't bite (much - sometimes when they're playing). But then, they were 5 months old when it was done; I don't know if that makes a difference. I wouldn't ever do it to an older cat (which explains why the previous cat still had his - he was at least 5 years old when he came to us; plus he was indoor/outdoor so we couldn't anyway; yeah, he destroyed the couch which is why the new babies got theirs taken away :(. I have such a mean mommy).
Baby is the only cat at my parents' house that isn't declawed in the front. We had to get a new couch when she was a kitten because she tore the old couch to shreds. We bought her a scratching post, but she doesn't use it.
What's amusing is watching Fat Cat and Fanta, who have no front claws, walk up to the scratch post and try to scratch it.

Cats + claws= mass destruction, no doubt. It's already been decided that none of them can be out in the office once the remodeling is done.
Some of the things that attract my cats include:
Stereo speaker covers
Drapes
Carpet (yes, I have a couple of cats that will claw on carpeting)
Furniture (I've had to trash an office chair b/c they had clawed the leather and stuffing was disappearing in the arms:eek:)
They also like to "make dough" on the bedding, which is why I'm having to get new stuff for the bedroom too.
Oh well, that's life at my house . . .
