Hey, all, I am home safe :)

The wedding was beautiful. It was right on the water in Newport, Rhode Island, at Fort Adams State Park (which is right on the end of the peninsula), with the sun beginning to set right behind them (ceremony was at 5pm). A little windy but not too cold. Dinner was a traditional clambake with 1-1/4 pound lobsters, clams, mussels, BBQ chicken, corn on the cob (too bad I don't eat seafood :p). Cake was chocolate-bourbon; soo good! Everything went without a hitch. And my college gang was all there; first time we've all been together in about 6 years! And the next morning I got to meet the 2 new babies just born in July. They were both so good and I got to hold them and the one fell asleep in my arms! :)

There was a reenactment thing going on earlier in the day, and the bride was escorted down from the fort by 6 uniformed soldiers, who walked her to the back of the seating area where her dad was waiting (he uses a walker and sometimes a wheelchair, so he couldn't walk her all the way from the fort, but he was able to walk her down the aisle, and made it through most of the father-daughter dance without help. After the "you may kiss the bride" they had a cannon salute (which was closer to me than I realized but otherwise very cool). Her mom was escorted by her 2-1/2 year old nephew, son of her sister, the minister who performed the ceremony. Aside from getting distracted by his long shadow in the setting sun and trying to step on it, he was perfect. He walked with one hand holding grandma's hand, and the other in his pocket, so cool in his little tux lol.

My friend looked beautiful, and so happy, and had a blast at her reception. Now they are off to Italy for 12 days.

On Saturday my one friend and I met in the morning, had some breakfast, wandered around downtown Newport for a while, and then went to the beach and walked along the edge of the water for a bit.

And to top it off, I had no problems on my drive, save for 2 small wrong turns after I got into Rhode Island and off the highway, but I just had to turn around and go back. I blame them on the fact that my directions didn't quite match what the road actually does. I even pumped my own gas for the first time in my life (hey, I'm from New Jersy...we're not allowed!)

All in all, a great trip. I'd like to have had more time with my friends, but it's nice to be home.

:D

I'm glad you have a great time and got home safely!

The last time my college friends were all together was at my wedding last summer. It was weird to see everyone with babies and spouses and mortgages.

So much for our vows not to "sell out"...

Yeah, there's only 2 of us left who are single, and the other one has a mortgage. I'm so behind...
