Today I could FINALLY put a light jacket on. October has the best weather ever, because it's not SUPPOSED to be humid, but for the past month or so it's been a freaking sauna. I shouldn't be sweating while I walk to places.

There's a slight chill in the air and the leaves are finally falling. It reminds me of going to the pumpkin patch, carving jack o'lanterns, and raking leaves and then jumping in them and have my mom bitch because now there were leaves all over the house when we came in. :D

I love fall. Enjoy it while it lasts, because I'm really not looking forward to slipping on ice and shoveling snow.

I'm glad that it's cooled off a bit. But, I just hope we don't get a constant hot/cold cycle like last year. My sinuses can't handle that :(

I loved the heat/humidity. Really, it was just from all the rain that it was humid. It would have just been hot otherwise. Fall is nice for a while, but it is way too depressing. The only positive thing is that we get an extra hour of sleep for a few months.

Consider yourself lucky to have proper weather, we just have drizzle, except for this summer where we had so much rain everywhere flooded so much we had no tap water (go figure). Can the brits tell where i live yet? :)

The tap water thing explained

The water pumping station has to be next to a river, unfortunately the water company didn't build any flood defences into it so when we had two/four months of rain fall (depending on area) in 24 hrs after an exceptionally wet summer the entire place flooded and no water was being pumped. We had no drinkable tap water for over two weeks.

I rather suspect you're a bit east of me, give or take.

I'd be glad for some ice to slip on and snow to shovel :( We Floridians don't see much of that. It's starting to feel a bit more like fall now though, as in it doesn't go above 80F during the day  Usually it doesn't get cold here until mid November and if we're lucky that'll last us till February or so. And even then, the definition of 'cold' here is anything below 50. Yes, my fellow Floridians are wimps. But I've always loved the cold, at least when I can get it!

Never wish for snow! It may be picturesque and pretty, but it causes so many accidents on the road. Ice is deadly. Below zero temps are intolerable.

I may sound like a bad person, but I'm enjoying this global warming thing. Ten years ago, temps started falling in late August and it could potentially start snowing in September. I recall many Halloweens as a child walking in the snow. The last of the snow would disappear in.....late May?!

Nowadays the first snow is oftentimes in November. It may lightly snow in October, but nothing substantial. Oftentimes, the temps don't get that cold, and if they do, it doesn't last long.

I don't like the "bipolar" weather, though. A few weeks ago, it got down to 39 degrees one Friday night, the next week it was in the 80s during the days, the next week it was chilly, last weekend was humid, and now it's freezing.

I hate fall and winter.

I live in Alberta, and in Alberta, every year, without fail, the first snows bring hundreds of car accidents. And every year, without fail, I laugh at these people for forgetting how to drive on ice and snow. People, we spend half the year with this stuff on the ground, and you're honestly telling me that the tiny skiff we get from the first snow is enough to throw the entire city into pandemonium every year? I look at it as Darwin in action.

And below zero temps are awesome, as long as it isn't windy. (zero celcius that is :D)

I love the autumn! Especially here in Western Oregon. The leaves are turning so many colors, even colors I never thought possible. (Some of the bushes have turned magenta!) And the weather is pleasantly cool. :)

I'm definitely a cool weather person. I can't believe I lived so long in Phoenix!

As much as I like warmer weather and detest bitterly cold weather, I like having four seasons. I'd get tired of one extreme or the other was all I got as far as weather.

At least in this stage of my life. When I get old I'd like to move someplace that's warm all year.

I agree. I love the weather around here--sure, it can get kinda cold in the winter, but hey, at least we don't have to deal with hurricanes, floods, tornados (well, usually), brush fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, mud slides or volcanoes.

It's have to be pretty damned cold before I start preferring the ground to start shaking! :p

Yep, pretty much all we get is the occassional blizzard. And who doesn't love -30 Celcius, 50kph winds, and 3 feet of snow in a day?

Exactly! I'm failing to see the downside of a day like that.

Brighouse, if that's a good enough description.

When I say a bit, I mean quite a bit.

Why was I thinking of Hull, then? I know they had major problems from rainfall recently.

I love fall. Cooler weather, the leaves, Baseball playoffs, football is in full swing, and it's the start of the decorating season with Halloween. I know Christmas is right around the corner, and I can start dreaming of all the good things that happen that time of year. I don't mind the snow. Shoveling it sucks, driving in it can sometimes suck, and yeah, you always meet the jackmonkey on the road that thinks he's invincible (until he wipes out). But, I'll take that any day over temps in the upper 90's, dew points of the same, and a miserable time sleeping.

I agree, the first snowfall and everyone forgets that snow/ice = slick roads. (derrrr you mean if I break on ice I won't stop?) It's either too slow, or way too fast. Never a happy medium for some people. But, it usually doesn't bother me working nights. I don't have too many people to contend with on the way to work, and on the way home everyone is going the opposite way I am. So, I'll take it.

I'll also second not being in a part of the country where earthquakes, tornados, and hurricanes hit. You members who live in those areas can keep em. :p

Amazing weather - not at my house in FL, but I am working in CA this week. today I was out on Napa Valley, tomorrow will be San Francisco. I love the crisp cool mornings, tolerable afternoons, and brisk evenings. Makes great work walking around town after work every day. We'll get these temps for about 2 days in February most likely.

Heh. I always have to laugh at the people who don't like southern California 'cause of the earthquakes.

Lessee, here... we get one major earthquake every 15 years or so. And not all of those end up hurting anyone. Other areas, however, get freezing weather, tornados, hurricanes, etc, every single year.

I'll take the ground shaking, thanks.

But the weather has been turning really pleasant the last couple of weeks. Warm enough to not really need a jacket until after the sun goes down, and then not cold enough to need more than just a jacket.

We're enjoying the cooler temps here, but we've still had NO rain of any measurable amount.

We've entered into more severe water restrictions and currently have approximately 140 days left of water for our city. Forecast calls for a 30% chance of rain Friday and Friday evening, but that could change at any time. Also, even if we do get any, with the lake levels so low now we probably won't get but maybe a drop in the bucket, so to speak.

Our leaves are just starting to turn in spots. Most of them are just sitll green and we've lost a few already due to the dry weather. Mom and I both are predicting an early winter.

I think it'll be not only cold but dry . . . and this time of year it's the driest of the year here.

Send water. :help:

I'm on my way!

It has rained every day since last Thursday and isn't forecasted to stop until Friday. Nothing out of this world or even flood potential, but just BLAH rain!

Heh. I always have to laugh at the people who don't like southern California 'cause of the earthquakes.

You may get an earthquake once every 15 years or so, but when was the last time you could get a five-day earthquake forcast? I'll take the cold.

But it's not just earthquakes that I would avoid SoCal for. It's also the brushfires, droughts, boiling hot days, and lines at DisneyWorld. :p;)

I've always been partial to the cold. Something about it makes me feel alive. Nothing beats sledding and snowball fights and then going in to warm up with some hot chocolate.
