Okay... so I just updated QuickTime a few minutes ago and it gave me iTunes.

So now my music library is supposedly organized and there's a bunch of radio stations to listen to... what else?

Tell me why I shouldn't just uninstall this right now?

You uninstall it.

seriously. I don't know why people are so nuts for it. I tried using it for all of 20 minutes before I deleted it. Heck, Windows Media Player had better functionality to me.

Only thing worse was when I tried to move my licence for Musicmatch Jukebox to a new computer.

Argh. Don't get me started on iTunes. But I have an iPod, so I'm kind of stuck with it.

But its a bloody space hog, and slower than molasses in January. I'd love to get rid of the damn thing.

*Loves his i-products.* I'm on a Mac though and truth be told itunes isn't as big a pain in the ass on a Mac unlike a Windows machine. My only complaint about my ipod? Being a music enthusiast with a constantly growing collection is bad when you have 4 GB of space left on a 30 GB.

Easier to navigate through. Can also tell you if you have duplicate songs (Can't remember if Windows Media Player did that). The search function is a lot easier and more friendly whereas with WMP I had the pleasure of having to be mega specific to find ONE song.

When installing Quicktime, it DEFAULTEDLY comes with ITunes.

So uninstall it, or Google for Quicktime WITHOUT Itunes. There's a link for it somewhere on the apple.com site.

I get iTunes back every time Quicktime needs to update and I uninstall it immediately every time.

It's really obnoxious that they don't allow you to not install it when you update.

Reminds me of the keyboard driver I had to download - roughly ten Mb. That's right - ten Mb of driver for a keyboard's special functions (roller button, email buttons - stuff like that). I didn't realise Itunes was included in that bundle.

Same thing with the wireless mouse driver, but that was twenty-eight Mb.

I just went into the Control Panel and uninstalled it but left QuickTime alone.
The iTunes file is huge compared to WMP! Like 64MB compared to about 8MB- thanks but no thanks. WMP does everything I need.

Thanks for the advice folks. :D

I can't stand Itunes, I tried it once and it took about 8 hours to import all my music at the time, allthough it was around 40 thousand songs or so. But it still only listed about 8 or 9 thousand of them. Needless to say, I've switched back to WMP also.

Our practice child (the oldest dd) has an iPod, so we are also stuck with it, so to speak, but I actually like it. I like the fact that my music is organized and easy to access when I want to listen to something.

Of course, the fact that we have almost 24GB of music means that I want something that does allow me to find my music anyway I can.

I find it humorous that it measures our music in days now.

Mine tells me, lists each one seperately, one right after the other. And megaspecific? I can search by album, artist, genre, year, composer, and a few other options. What else do you need? Frankly, I really really didn't find iTunes "easy to navigate". Couldn't find sweet bugger all. Though the difference might be Mac vs. Windows. Don't know, don't especially care. <3 my WMP. :p

I used itunes to organize all my music and upload it to my ipod and was really liking it and then I lost my ipod. So I deleted the itunes and computer was much improved.
The only other software I know of that worse is HP printer drivers. I don't really think a freaking printer driver for a all-in-one office jet should be 40 freaking meg.

I can't stand WMP. I've never used iTunes. I use WMP Classic for when I'm forced to and Winamp for all of my musical needs.

If you want an older version of Quick Time without the iTunes, go to OldVersion (http://www.oldversion.com)
You can also find older versions of Musicmatch Jukebox there as well among many other programs.

I'm not familiar with QuickTime, so I don't know about the workings of it. I've used either Musicmatch or WMP.

However, since I got my current laptop, I've stuck with WMP11. It's great for burning custom CD's as well as ripping songs from CD. Heck, I can play my Audacity music files created from cassette or LP on WMP, as I can save them as MP3.

What more could I want? Well . . . a lot, but not music related.;)

It's been about a year and a half since I last used WMP. And when I say easy to navigate I mean that everything is just right there in front of you. Example. (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q307/villa23/Picture5.png)

My only problem with itunes? The cover art view (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q307/villa23/Picture7.png). Great idea but at times you can end up with copies of the album art. Although this is cool (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q307/villa23/Picture6.png).

Of course, the fact that we have almost 24GB of music means that I want something that does allow me to find my music anyway I can.

Holy crap! If that's the entire family combined than amazing but if it's just you then I thought I was bad!

Oh yes. I am not only saddled with iTunes due to my iPod, but also HP drivers due to my printer.

Welcome to my personal hell.

You must have used WMP9 or something, because since 10, it's been like this, and I don't remember what 9 looked like.

I use WMP11 and I find it quite easy to navigate.

One of the things I like about it is when it's minimized it becomes a mini-player on the task bar. Maybe previous versions did this and I never noticed?

10 did it, but - as with 11- there's an option to disable it. And on mine, it started off disabled, so it is possible that yours did as well if your previous versions didn't do it. The only issue I have with mini-player mode is if I'm doing something full-screen, it often tries to force itself on top. Not a huge issue though, as there are ways around it for me :)

I went straight from 9 to 11 so I guess I missed it.

It doesn't try and force itself on top of other programs for me. It just sits there, on the taskbar, doing nothing unless I tell it to.
