Earlier I was winding down and munching on one of my favorite snacks, tortilla chips and ranch dressing, I started thinking about other weird food combos that I like. I love food, but that can't be the only reason that I enjoy strange food combos. I'm sure most -if not all- of us enjoy something strange every now and then. Some of the odd combos that I was able to come up with are:
*tortilla chips and ketchup
*Cherry Coke and Sour Straws (a combo I enjoyed in high school!)
*Dr. Pepper and Watermelon Jelly Bellies
I'm sure I have more . . . what are yours? :D
Don't be afraid; if you like it someone else might too!
shredded parmesean cheese, mixed up with ceasar dressing, schmeared all over garlic bread. Whenever I get a ceasar salad at Applebee's I always ask for extra dressing and parmesean just so I can drown my garlic bread in dressing and cheese. Mmmm!!!
I also like orange pop (Orange Crush, Orange Vess) to drink along with eating a Hershey bar. Love the mixture of orange and chocolate. MMMmMMMMM!!!!
Hot popcorn and Raisinets. (chocolate covered raisins) I like to get this at the movies...bonus points if they have orange pop.

My husband loves bologna and jelly sandwiches.
My daughter dips her potato chips in mustard.
I caught my oldest son making a peanut butter and pickle sandwich with chocolate sauce on top.
My little guy covers everything in ketchup. I hate ketchup for the most part, so that is really disgusting to me.
They all think my drowning my hamburger in mustard and pickles is gross, so I guess it works out.
roast potato sandwhiches.... im a carb freak...*hangs head*

The last itme we had a thread like this . . .
Aww, I'm not original? Boo me.
100-Calorie (or the low/no butter) popcorn with M&Ms makes GREAT snack, 'specially when you put the M&Ms in the bottom of a bowl of fresh-from-the-microwave corn and the chocolate gets all melty . . . yum!
And there's something about the red wine and tiramisu combo that drives me wild. My man knows that if he wants something from me he's got to take me to Olive Garden.

Cottage cheese and pineapple
Open-faced coleslaw-and-swiss sandwiches, melted in the microwave.
Ketchup on scrambled eggs, macaroni and cheese, Rice-a-Roni, grilled cheese, potato chips, or tortilla chips. (Barbecue works, too.)

An older thread like this? Did anyone save it or remember keywords or award-whinging combinations from it?
Thanks for restarting it,  .
Around 1979-81 my Dad's restaurant franchise started selling cookies by the cashier, but my brother and I preferred the cookie-sized chunks of dough from the walk-in freezer. That was weird back then, though I always licked beaters and bowls of cake and cookie batter growing up (no talk of raw eggs being bad back then, even though people in the theatre were grossed out by Rocky drinking a glass of (8?) of them). As an adult I've occasionally made cake batter and kept it in the fridge to sip on over the coming days or ate cookie dough or brownie batter rolls bit by bit (at least some, before baking the rest). If I wanted it softer or warmer I'd leave it out for a while.
I don't like much in the way of traditional breakfast food, so at a casino buffet one morning I found granola was good with chilled cucumbers (or was that corn? :flame:  ) Oatmeal cookies are also good croutons.
I only drink nonfat milk because even lowfat tastes too rich for me, even growing up. Brother and Mom compromised at lowfat like her new husband and his kids--who used to drink whole milk--when they married, but I refused. As the only nonfat drinker, my milk was more likely to run out than the others', so I put water on cereal at least once (worked okay for Wheat Chex at least).
Pasta is essentially made of the same ingredients as bread, so I've enjoyed it with pancake syrup, butter and powdered sugar, etc.
For many years I made tacos with bbq sauce instead of taco seasoning--still used salsa or taco sauce too.
I seem to recall a pizza place offering corn and cherries as toppings.
Some people even put cheddar on apple pie and dill/lemon/tartar sauce on fish!

My dad does the cheddar/apple pie combo.
When I eat breakfast and am having pancakes with eggs/sausage/bacon, I love to drizzle some syrup on my sausage or bacon! Mmmmmm!

I like to eat something I have called a chocolate & peanut butter sandwich
Use soft white bread.
smear on tons of creamy decidant peanut butter.
Take some chocolate chips and melt them slightly in the microwave(until spreadable).
spread and while drooling uncontrollably get a glass from the cupboard.
While licking the chocolate off the knife (making certain that no one is looking) pour a tall glass of
milk.
Now salivating freely, proceed to consume faced chocolate & peanut butter sandwich making sure to cover face with chocolate including end of nose if needed.
Gulp milk between bites and let eyes glaze over into a sort of derranged stare that no one can penetrate.
Mmmmmmm so good (man now i want one!!)

Doritos Cool Ranch torilla chips with Philly cream cheese.
Pretzel sticks, smooth peanut butter, and chocolate chips.
Other than that, just a drink I made a music camp once because I was bored. It was really good, but you had to drink it right away. We had an open drink bar so I could actually do this: pepsi, 7-up, dr. pepper, orange pop, diet pepsi, root beer, orange juice, grapefruit juice, apple juice, fruit punch, skim milk and chocolate milk.
Makes everyone at the table go :puke:

Pretzel sticks, smooth peanut butter, and chocolate chips.
Actually, that sounds pretty good! In fact, one of my weird things is to take a spoonfull of peanut butter and cover it with chocolate chips. I also had a friend that liked to put a fried egg on top of her cheese enchiladas.

'K. . . after reading all of that, my fave snack seems too normal!!!
I take some peanut butter, mix in some cinnamon, then dip slices of granny smith apples into it - mmm, tasty :)
However, when I was a kid. . . I'd make toast, slice up cooking onion for the sandwich filling, and smother it in ketchup. I also used to make toasted sardine sandwiches (mash the sardines up with lemon juice).
My Dad used to eat cheddar cheese with toast and marmalade. I tried it and liked it.
His weirdest thing was eating a clove of raw garlic with a slice of bread and butter. When I was about 5, I asked for a taste - I didn't know any better! I still remember how it stung my mouth!!
An ex BF of mine used to eat mayonnaise sandwiches, ketchup sandwiches, and just gravy with nothing else. He'd make packaged gravy mix and eat it right out of the pot. :puke:

Not a snack, but...I LOVE lemon juice (from a real lemon!) on my chicken strips. Yum. Grosses my Mom out though.

I like drinking vinegar.
I almost made a co-worker throw up after I put both vinegar and ketchup on my fries at lunch one day-he has a "thing" about products with vinegar in them.
I really love tortilla chips and spaghetti sauce-using the sauce (HAS to be warm!) as a dip for the chips. Extra tasty points if you add sour cream and/or cheddar cheese.

I can't say this is really wierd, but I tend to snack on
Tortilla Chips and Taco Sauce.
I don't like salsa, mainly cause I don't like the chunkiness of it. I like a thin dip. So, yeah, Ortega Taco sauce.
I guess it's not all that wierd, but the people at the store must think I love tacos.

Oh my God, does that sound good. I love love love peanut butter in any form.
One of my old time favorites, although not really *weird* per se,
Get a freshly made onion bagel
Toast it so that it's nice and brown, but not burnt
Let it cool slightly and then slather with blue cheese salad dressing
Top it with sliced cheddar cheese and put it in the broiler until the cheese melts.
One of my all time favorites....although the peanut butter sandwich may now take precedence.

Wow, wierd snacks. Let's see, where to begin?
I've eaten bologna and grape jelly with cheese.
I took spaghetti and meat sauce and put it on grape jellied bread.
Peanut butter and pepper jelly sandwich.
Peunut butter and hot sauce sandwich.
PB and peach jelly and hot sauce sandwich.
Hamburger with pepper jelly deli ham and turkey with cheese and Miracle Whip.
Mash (or fried) potatoes on a chicken sandwich or burger.
Mango smoothie made with sherbert.
Country Bob's BBQ sauce on tacos or ranch dressing.
Ranch dressing with any meat in any dish.
Random juices mixed together: orange/apple, ice tea/lemonade, fruit punch/grape, etc.
Chesse dipped in ranch. Such a healthy choice.
PB, chocolate and marshmallow sandwich.
That's all I can think of for now.
:ot: Is this possible here?
There are some things I like to just chew on. They include my finger nails, toe nails, and currently a paper clip.

I just remembered:
I used to work at a fast food restuarant. Once, on a dare, I was made to eat a doggie treat-one of those Milk-Bones. So I did. It didn't really taste bad, just really bland-like I was eating wood.
So after I did that, I would occationally eat one just to freak out a new person.
here's some more...
Pita bread with parmesean cheese, caesar dressing and black olives in it.
Pita bread with hummus, feta cheese, and black olives.
Pita bread with vinagarete dressing, feta cheese and black olives.
black olives dipped in caesar dressing and parmesean cheese.
Cheeseburgers topped with feta cheese and black olives (and possibly a little oil and vinegar) Also, the bun has to be toasted with butter.
Pita bread, with Yukon Gold potatoes cut up into little bite sized pieces that have been cooked (sauteed possibly) in butter and tons of garlic
S'mores made with almond Hershey bars instead of the regular milk chocolate kind.
Apples, dipped in warm caramel and toasted pecans.
Lemon pie Yoplait (yogurt) used as dip for graham crackers
Chocolate ice cream with a waffle cone or two crushed over it as a topping, with Hershey's syrup and marachino cherries on top.

Ever since I read about Elvis' love for fried PB and banana sandwiches, I have loved them too. They are MESSY (I usually wind up eating them with knife and fork.) But the slight crunch of that bread...melted PB....mmmmmmm.
Whenever I'm at the grocery store, I have to avoid the Ben and Jerry's because if I see a Chubby Hubby pint on top, I cannot help but take it....and then eat it all in one sitting. I also avoid the Bulk section, lest I be tempted by the chocolate covered mini pretzels.....
I used to make my own "Reeses" - melt chocolate, add PB, cover with more chocolate, and freeze. I would only do this when alone in the house, because it would cause snide comments from my brother.
Can you tell I'm a PBchocoholic? :D

Sardine's? On purpose? I still get queesy thinking about watching a cross-eyed guy eat sardines in hot-mustard sauce with the sauce running down his face. I don't know if it was the sardines, his being crosseyed, or a combination but I had to leave or :puke:.
I walked into the kitchen a few minutes ago to see my oldest son eating a syrup sandwich. I turned around and walked right back out. That is just gross!
When I was in elementray school (back in the dark ages) if the lunch ladies didn't have seconds they'd handout the best PBJ's I'd ever had. No matter what kind of jelly Mom would buy or make it wasn't the same. Finally one day Mom called the cafateria manager and she said they didn't use jelly but dark Karo syrup. I still like that combo to this day.
My Mom will make a sandwich out of just about anything bu the one that got me was Green-bean and Mayo on whole-wheat, I mean whole-wheat that's a white bread type sandwich.
We had to keep a close eye on my oldest daughter when she was young, she would eat spoonfuls of bacon grease the older the better. That grease would have her running from both ends. I don't know why but my wife and kids like smooth JIF on one slice of bread, chucky Peter Pan on another, put some mustard and pickles on it slap them together and they'll make a meal of it. Gives me shivers just thinking of that. I tell the wife and kids they're freaks and I ought to sell them to the circus.
I like Manwich on Pasta, yummo. I also prefer PB and Mircle Whip. One that grossed the wife out at first but dipping fries in mayo.

I guess I could throw in my fav "strange" snack. I love to make grill cheese sandwich with mustard.
When I was younger, peanut butter and cheese was one. Haven't had that in a while. Strange that I remember it.

OK, this makes my favorite grilled cheese seem very normal. Take mozzarella, add sliced pepperoni. When buttering bread, add grated Parmesan to butter sides of bread, grill until browned and a bit crisp.

Hmmm... I'd have to say my favorite weird snack is a good peanut butter and dill-pickle sandwich.
Lightly toast white or honey-wheat bread. Add just a little butter or margarine while it's still warm, slather a generous layer of peanut butter over both slices of bread. Then, take about 3 dill pcikle spears and cut them into enough little chunks to cover a slice of the bread, then top with the other. It sounds odd, but the sour spice of a good kosher dill goes very well with the sweet saltiness of the peanut butter. The butter is just for a little added unhealthiness.
My all-time favorite snack though is tomato sandwiches. Just white bread, a thick layer of mayo (NOT miracle whip), a few thick slices of sweet, ripe tomato, a good dose of salt and pepper and MAYBE a few strips of bacon or some crumbled bacos. I usually just leave them off, though. WONDERFUL with the fresh, ripe tomatoes of late summer or early fall. SUPPORT YOUR ROADSIDE FOOD STANDS! :D

Wow- we have some seriously creative snackers here.
I like to eat chickpeas, straight out of the can.
I also like to use green pepper strips as spoons for chocolate pudding or ice cream. (celery will do if there's no green pepper)
As a kid I used to eat pickle-and-mustard sandwiches- my mom's sweet cucumber ring pickles and French's mustard on homemade bread.
My daughter likes to dip cheese into ketchup and eat it....
