My son just turned 8 months on the 23rd of this month. tonight, i put him down to go to bed. when i returned to the room to check on him, i saw something i didn't expect to see so soon. my son standing! he pulled himself to a stand by using the sides of the pack-and-play(yes, we are still using this. the crib isn't put together yet). i snapped picture after picture after picture.he started bouncing up and down and laughing while i did this.

after a few minutes of standing, he actually moved himself along the side! he is just changing so much, and in one night! it is so exciting and sad at the same time. i love seeing him grow up and learn new things, but at the same time, i realize how fast it is going by. i do have to say though. i absolutely LOVE being a mother. its the best thing in my life.

Standing at 8 months?
Hmm.. My daughter was walking at 8 months. And at 10 months, was solving complex quantum physics problems.

Just kidding about that last part. It was algebra.

But anyway, congrats on your boy. That is totally awesome. Isn't that the coolest feeling?

What an exciting milestone in both you and your son's lives! Let us know when he starts walking!

That's so cool! He's probably been eyeing that railing for a while now...:)

I love being a mother too. I love the ability to watch a unique and separate individual achieve their 'firsts', because they will never have those particular firsts ever again.
I love looking into the eyes of my boys and knowing that I am the one (well, DH is too) responsible for their existence, that we brought them into this world. I love how, Ben, my youngest (18 months) is so cuddly and just loves to come up and give me hugs and how he gets SOOO jealous when anyone else hugs or kisses me, even DH! He's such a momma's boy.

My oldest, Nathan (4yo), loves to sing various songs to himself, with skewed lyrics as 4yo's do... so when he sings the alphabet song, he doesn't say "H I J K, L M N O P" ... he sings "H I J K, animal pee"...

Sure, we can't just up and go on trips and go out and do whatever, but most times that stuff is all superficial and really not necessary for living a fulfilling life. Sometimes the simple joys of watching the boys wrestle and play together, listening to Ben tell a story in his own baby babble language, or Nathan playing so intently with his hotwheels cars, making up funny scenes and stories are all I need to be entertained.
