PARTY!!!

Really, I shouldn't complain too much. This place is a lot better than my old apartment. And the little old ladies that live downstairs are so kind and look out for me, but at the same time, they are so damn nosy! Every night when I trudge down the stairs and head to my car, a little old permed head pokes through the curtains. Every time someone comes over, even in a different building, they notice.

The lady underneath me has been complaining that I drop stuff too much. You heard me right. Now, my old neighbor, the crackwhore elephant, used to drop and throw shit on purpose. I've been known to be really sleepy and clumsy and drop a thing or two in the bathroom or knock some shaving cream or shampoo off of the side of the tub and onto the floor, but it really isn't that big of a deal.

A couple of Fridays ago, when I got back from my parents' house doing laundry, she had been WAITING for me (!!) and came out when I parked and asked if I had been home Thursday night. Um, NO, I have to work Thursdays, remember? She said "Well I don't know what you left behind last night or if you had someone over, but there was this tremendous crash that came from YOUR apartment at 3 am and it woke me up! You should take more care when you leave for work to make sure nothing will fall!"

I kind of brushed it off, as when I got inside, nothing had fallen or even shifted since I had left Thursday night. The old lady either had a senior moment, or it had to have been someone else upstairs that had something fall down.

This lady goes down South every winter, and she's gone for a few months! Wooo hooo! I don't have to worry about dropping things!

Party!

It's an apartment, not a single house. Apartment dwellers are going to be thisclose to the neighbors, the ceiling/floor and walls are thin and people do make noise. Folks who live in lower apartments need to understand that their upstairs neighbors' footfalls and occasional dropped items are going to sound louder than they normally would.

My current upstairs neighbors have several children who tend to run around like a herd of elephants. I just shrug and turn the radio a little louder.

My first apartment, we lived upstairs from an old biddy who constantly complained about us. We walked too loudly (?!), our blender interfered with her TV reception (we didn't have a blender!), you name it. Sorry, lady, I'm not Spiderman, I can't walk on the walls or my own ceiling, I have no choice but to walk on my floor, your ceiling. Deal with it.

Stuff like this makes me so glad we were fortunate enough to be able to buy our own house... but then you have our one neighbor who seems to think he's the block's personal cop (and his career of choice is a PT job at Subway) ... or one that will call the house or come over if my dog has barked or has been barking for only a minute or two when we let him out to go potty and he wants back in, and we just can't get him right away...
