My 4 1/2 year old went in this morning for hernia surgery. He is doing fine now. I have to get his pain medications for him from the pharmacy. He has a big bandage over it. He has had it since birth, it never caused him any trouble but his pediatrician feels that it is best to have it repaired. Hernias run in our family. I am going on my 5th surgery for them and his older sister has had hers fixed before.
Since this is the 5th reaccurance of mine I am going to file medical with the VA. I should have done this along time ago, but I was planning on going Reserves, but with all that is happening overseas, I refuse to go.

Hernia surgery sucks. Been there done, that....twice.
1994 and 2004. The first time, it wasn't too bad. In fact, it barely hurt before or after. During my annual exam, the doctor felt a lump, and said that it had to be taken care of as a precaution.
Second time was much worse. I have no idea what caused it, since I was fine the night before. However, the next morning, I was in some *serious* pain  It wasn't too bad, until I was driving to work. The pain kept getting worse, so I turned around and went to the hospital. By the time I got there, I could barely walk (and I'm not going to reveal the other gory details--if you *really* want them look in my LJ around 1/1/2004.) and underwent surgery. Because of all the painkillers I was on (6 different meds) I was high as a kite for a week, and had to stay home from work for 2 weeks.
Look at it this way...you have a perfect excuse to watch movies all day and to get out of lifting heavy objects :)
I hope your little one is ok!!
lots of jelly and ice cream for the brave boy!!
I hope YOUR ok to, it can be really upsetting to see a little one sick.
My thoughts are with you.
