Don't know if anyone realized it or not, but hubby & I were in Indianapolis for Gen*Con (www.gencon.com) from August 9th to August 14th. Four incredible days of gaming (and 2 days for the driving to and fro). We're definitely going to be going back next year! I even got to meet Kevin Sorbo! YAY!

Welcome back.
I heard that gencon this year was nice. I don't do trips anymore
So spill some stories. Did your character survive a Gary Gygax type dungeon?

Damn, I loved him in the Hurcules and Xena shows. He looks better with long hair and I was kinda pissed that he had to cut it.
If I were to see him on the street wearing those leather pants, no shirt and that long hair and that great tan, I thing that I would have either peed myself or embarrased in some other way.

Didn't do any Gary Gygax dungeons :( However, I did hear from a friend of mine that on a message board, Mr. Gygax posted that somene had stolen about $1,000 worth of Magic cards from his son! How can one steal from anyone related to one of the Gaming Gods is beyond me.
I went to the Q&A session hosted by Kevin Sorbo. He's nice, sweet, really funny. When I went to stand in the autograph line ($30 for an autograph and to have a picture taken), my husband told him that I was given the choice of either going on a cruise or coming to Gen*Con, I chose Gen*Con (actually it was a true story - 4 days @ Gen*Con or 9 to 10 days for a cruise and being away from my daughter for longer, I chose the shorter of the 2 "evils"). Anyways, Kevin Sorbo looked right at my hubby and said, "You still owe her the cruise!" I just about died!
Hubby & I are in the RPGA (RolePlayer Gaming Association or something like that). There were 2 RPGA events this year: Living Greyhawk and Living Ebberron. (I much prefer the Ebberron game, mainly 'cos you don't have to keep remembering to buy consumables (i.e., arrows, animals, etc.) and no paper accounting!) Anyways, I played the 1st 2 official mods for Living Ebberron, at the 2nd table, the writer of mods 1 & 2 ran us! He was awesome! However, I did the Living Greyhawk Special Mission. APL 6 and it was a Meat Grinder! I got drained 4 levels (went from a 7th level character to a 3rd level character). Fortunately the level drains were temporary. Whew!
I went to a bunch of seminars for writing, my favorite one was the one about Chicks kicking butt (strong female characters). I also attended some SPA workshops (intended for the Significant Others of gaming people). I participated in a recipe swap and I learned how to knit without using needles! (Basically, we used a plastic loom-device called the Knifty Knitter). It was a blast!
I made a new friend (gah! Now I sound like I'm 6, LOL). She's from Georgia and she goes to Dragon*Con every year (Dragon*Con is in Georgia). Now I want to go there 'cos she hosts the late-night parties on Friday & Saturday nights (9 PM to 3 AM).
I spent most of my time in the Dealer's Hall. R. A. Salvatore was there. He was cool. I demoed a few games (I bought a card game called "It's Good to be the King"). I also demoed the new Conan CCG. The guy who came up with the design (can't remember his name) was the one who taught me how to play! I'm awesome! LOL I also met Monte Michael Moore who does the drawing for the comic, "King Arthur vs. Dracula". Love the artwork, Mr. Moore was cool and we blew a lot of money there.
Oh yeah, the funniest experience at the Con (for me at least): We got to Indianapolis on late-ish Wednesday afternoon (we checked into our hotel at 3:45 PM) and then went to the Con to get our badges and tickets. As we were returning to get to our car, we came off the elevator into the lobby of the hotel we had parked at (we had to find another elevator to take us to the garage). I step off the elevator and I see a beige shirt looming just inches from my face, I step to the side, and look up to say "Excuse me" and I saw it was Kevin Sorbo! After walking away quickly, I grabbed hubby's shirt and said "Did you see who I almost walked into!?" I completely geeked out! I had to call my friends, my Mom AND my sister and tell them whom I almost walked into!

LOL Kevin Sorbo is a pretty big guy isn't he. He was at a con I go to last year (Valleycon in Fargo, ND) and luckily I didn't have my curse and run into him like I have a done to a few other guests at that con.

I'd imagine that it was because they are valuable?
A chum of mine with whom I played the game when it was still fairly new wondered why people kept counterfeiting money when Magic cards were so much easier to do.
I suspect someone has already cottoned on to this and been prosecuted, but I'm out of the loop.

Actually, he's tall, I'd say about 6 feet 2 inches. However, he's not as buff as he was in Hercules. I suppose he had to slim down for Andromeda. However, I still think he's HOT!

Someone has probably counterfeited Magic cards. I think I heard a rumor along those lines when I was working at the Gaming Store. I'm sorta out of the loop. When I see my Magic friends, I just catch up with them personally-wise, not CCG-wise.

:p both filmed around 15 minutes away from where I lived for the outdoor sceens and 30 minutes for the studio shots (they actually shared alot of props/staff)
I saw them quite alot because my highschool was located by the beach area where they used to hang out/ have lunch etc
jealous much  :p
