Some of you may remember that I posted a while ago about the trouble I'd been having in putting my bed together. When I moved - either the last time or the time before, I don't know - the bolts holding the bed together must have decided that they couldn't take living with me anymore, and fled the country. This meant that I was sleeping on the mattress, on the floor, looking for these highly unusual bolts. A trip to a VERY large hardware store didn't help.
So, last weekend, a friend drove me to IKEA and we brought in the headboard and one of the side pieces. The guys working in the back room, who must have been having a hell of a day, by the look of them, were very polite and went in search of the necessary pieces. One particularly dedicated soul looked all over hell and half of Georgia for a metal plate to hold the center piece to the headboard. He couldn't find it, and brought out another one, telling me that I could have a hole drilled in the headboard so that the plate would match.
I don't know WHAT the poor guy thought when I told him that I already had the metal plates - they're on the center piece, which I hadn't brought with me - I just needed the bolts for the rest of the frame, and the screws for the metal plates on the center piece.
So, we got the stuff (for free!), took the bed back home, and my friend helped me put it together. Joy! No more sleeping on the floor!
