I live in the country, but in a set of 7 houses kinda close to each other. We all rent from the same lady. She hires people to mow our lawns. I have specifically told her to tell them not to mow ours after 2 incidences of them mowing down my flowers. I keep my yard nice anyways. And they take forever actually coming out there that i just do it myself.
Well I got home last night and noticed that all the other yards were mowed and lo and behold so was mine. Ok thats fine, they know to stay away from where my flowers are, which is pretty much around my house next to it. So I'm thinking if they hurt my flowers again(the other ones didn't grow back :( )
They not only hurt them, they mowed down my SUNFLOWERS !!!!!!!!! 5 feet tall Terra cotta(reddish) sunflowershttp://gurneys.com/product.asp?pn=67952&bhcd2=1155762243 how can you miss them, its obvious what they are!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh I am soooo angry right now!!!!
Sorry just needed to get this out. I feel better now, thanks :D
complain to your landlady again, ask her whos going to compensate you for those flowers
maybe THEN she will think about changing companies!!

Oh, man, and what beautiful flowers, too. :( I agree with Kiwi, complain to the landlady again and demand compensation. There is no way you can "accidentally" mow down five foot tall flowers! That's like accidentally mowing down a small tree!

There where some people who worked at a local lawn care company together. They basically mowed anything that was more than 2" high. They also didn't bother to check what was in the sprayer and managed to kill alot of flowers. They did alot of businesses and didn't last long. It was impossible not to notice all the brown spots and dead flowers at those places. You could tell that they didn't even bother to go around the flower beds, they just mowed over them. The people that did that to your lawn need to pay for the replacement and the landlady needs to get her :censored: together. Keep us updated.
Our homeowners association has a lawn company do our lawns. Last week they actually knocked down my neighbor's tree!
It was a small maple tree...just a few years old. Neighbors had it planted in their yard last year. There was something wrong with the tree, but my neighbor was doing pretty good at nursing it along a bit.
I think the guy on the riding lawnmower was doing a circle around the tree and somehow hit it with the thingie that the cut grass blows out of. The tree tipped over a bit and then snapped off a couple of inches above the ground.
Lawn service guy tossed freshly killed tree in the field behind our house and continued mowing...didnt even tell the neighbor.
I also have a suspicion that the lawn service didnt lower the lawnmower blades to cut the grass last week, because this week our grass is extremely tall and shaggy looking. Doesnt even look like it's been mowed in several weeks.

My neighbor mowed down my Sunflowers also, he thought that he was doing me a favor. Mine were the giant ones about the height of you waist. He was on a riding lawnmower. When I saw what he did, I went over and told him that he just killed my sunflowers. He just looked at me and shrugged and said that he thought that they were weeds.
I told him NOT to mow my yard ever again, favor or no. I told him that I would mow his dogs over (I woudn't). They are weiner dogs and would dissapear in the grass.

Well I talked to the landlady last night after I had cooled down some (got mad again just thinking about it lol ).
She said that it was our responsibility to keep our yards mowed(I was, it was everybody else that wasn't!!!!!!)and she was doing us a favor by paying to have them mowed. And she wasn't going to compensate us for the flowers.
She also said that it was not her problem that we couldn't keep our yard mowed how she liked it.
I mow my yard about every week and a half. The grass stays perfect like that - not short all the way to the ground but not ankle high. Its nice and fluffy.
So I guess there is nothing else I can do.:( I really miss my sunflowers. I had planted them to be kinda like a privacy fence since she didn't want us to actually put a privacy fence there.

Yeah, I'd be moving as soon as I possibly could. No way I'd rent from crazy people like that.

Have you considered an elecrtic fence?
Even if the mower touches it, it might set off the gas tank!
