I got the nanny job that I interviewed for! I don't know if I told anyone here or not, but I applied and interviewed for a nanny position only 2 miles from my house, for a little boy who goes to the same preschool as my son.
I have done daycare for about 15 months, and at about only 6 months, I was already miserable and hating it-I am pretty much tied to the house all day until about 4:30, and I seem to keep getting kids with severe behavior and emotional problems. But I felt the need to stick it out as I want to be able to be home with my kids. Unfortunately, because of the lack of families to care for, even with my ads in the paper and on craigslist, I just haven't had much luck getting families, and one of the two that I do have, is wanting to only work PT, which means I only get the kids PT, and she wants me to reduce my rate for 3 days/week, as opposed to 5 days. I really could not afford it, so I had to look at my options. I either work diligently to get more kids and continue doing something I really don't like, or I find something that allows me to still take my kids with me (which is very few things), or put my own kids in daycare and go back to work outside the house. Unless I could find a job where they could come with me, the other two would make me miserable either way.
So I thought that maybe caring for one family at their home, one that was able to support my needed income would work better rather than multiple families, and a virtual revolving door on my own home. I found an ad online for a nanny that sounded ideal, so I applied. They like that I was licensed and willing to keep that status for them, since it doesn't take much to maintain it. Not only that, is on days he goes to school, I only have to be there until he goes to school, which is at 1pm, and then I have the rest of the day to do whatever. My own son is in his preschool class from 9-12, so it works out nicely. On days school is not in, I get an extra $10/day so Christmas should be real nice this year! Between this nanny job and my PT OfficeMax job, I'll be bringing in at least $30 more per week than before. Plus, we can turn the toy room into a bedroom for my youngest so that he will have his own room finally!
I am so happy, I am just ecstatic!!!
