The supermarket where I work sometimes does environment drives; ie, giving away the nice shopping bags which are normally 10p each free. It did this last week for two days, Saturday and Sunday. Now, today I had countless people grabbing at the bags and looking shellshocked when I pointed out that they were 10p each. "They were free last time I came in!" -.- Then I say it was a special one off, and they look indignant. "They should be free all the time!" We have free bags all the time; the ordinary carrier bags. The nice shopping bags however are not free, cuz the money paid for them goes to charity; the amount we would have gotten from the free bag days was donated to charity out of *supermarket*'s profits, so we can't give the bags away free all the time. This small fact tho seemed impossible for certain people to grasp.

OT (I know where you work! :D)

Back on topic

How do people not grasp the concept of 'special offer'? That is to say it isn't all the time.

Ah but it's free for me all the time because I am an SC - a SPECIAL ..... erm, anything you can think of beginning with a C.

I think Crab is a fitting description of a typical SC. Crab/Crabby.

Words for a SC beginning with C...

They may act in the manner of casus belli

They may be as pleasant as a catheter

They may be confused

Cesspool

Confounded

And we can only hope they never conjugate!

Let us hope they don't also mutate and become a collective.

It's weird how people seem to find the concept of a one or two day special offer hard to grasp. O_o

I believe my local Publix still has paper shopping bags, but they are not out in the open for others to help themselves to. It really is bad this time of year when people want to grab a bunch of bread bags to make Christmas luminaries, or some that take a handful of them for trash duty at home.

I have no beef about charging people for the bags. It costs the company money to have them made, let alone shipped to the stores. Plastic bags are fine with me, and they were really useful when my kids were still in diapers.

I think i know where you work also!

i used to work at a store that made you pay for your bags. i would constantly get complaints about how they have to pay for bags, and how we are a rip off. its 10 cents! if your that worried about 10 cents then bring them back!

One thing; if you think you know where I work, PM me. I don't want the place where I work to be mentioned here; notice I don't mention it in my posts?
