It is a sad, sad day in football today. Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor got shot by an intruder in his home yesterday and has passed away today.
Now, I know that I've made light of my hatred toward the team he played for, but today is a day that petty rivalries go out the window. Today is day that makes us really reflect back and wonder what is truly wrong with society. True, he's had his problems in the past (including problems with guns) but I don't think anyone deserves to be killed at home, athlete or not, especially by an intruder or thief (they don't know yet who did it).
All in all, he will be remembered as a ferocious hitter on the field, but alas, all the muscles, all the time in the weight room, all the hours away from his family spent in a dark room watching film lead to this.
I think I'm saddened most by the fact at how young he was. Not because he was in his prime as a football player, but because he was my brothers age. 1983? C'mon now. I still think of my older brother as a kid, and I'm willing to bet the Sean Taylor really still was just a big kid.
