View Full Version : Tech Question
I accidently deleted a file I want to keep while cleaning up my harddrive and cleaned out my Recycling Bin. Is it possible to retrieve the file? I know its possible to do certain things even after emptying the bin but didnt know if restoring the file was possible or not. Its an mp3 if that matters.

hey ryu try this program http://www.diskinternals.com/products.shtmlDiskInternals Uneraser can recover any deleted file, including documents, photos, mp3 and zip files, or even folders and damaged disks. In addition to HDD, the program supports any type of storage media (music sticks, cameras, flash drives, USB drives, etc)! It works with encrypted files and helps you undelete file lost because of a virus attack or an employee's malicious behavior. No special skills needed; 100% FREE to try.
It's free to try, but don't you have to buy the program if you want it to actually restore the files it finds?

What that means is you overwritten your music files and now no longer recoverable :(
P.S. the strange names and strange files are generally temp files created by programs when you run them and they generally get deleted when the program closes. (Wouldn't be surprise if you had thousands or millions of those) Did you scroll down through the entire list? Sometimes it'll show up anywhere in the list.
only about 10 folders showed up
i only deleted the file this week if i remember right, :(

ouch, files can be permanently unrecoverable within a day.
Now, since the "file" is move to the trash bin. You do have to look in the trash bin folder for the file (just in case you didn't look in there). If you used a program (games) to delete the file (like save games data), then it will be where the file was when deleted.
