...The Colorado State Patrol Hotline. You can call them at *CSP from anywhere in the state and report aggressive or DUI drivers. I find myself calling at least twice a week. It's fantastic- saves me the trouble of being angry at lousy drivers, and their license plates get reported- which, if it happens enough and from different callers, results in a fine for them. If you report a potential DUI driver they usually ask you to follow them and a trooper will come meet you and pull them over, but I have only had to do that once.

That's awesome! I wish we had that. I would be calling 5 times a day. There are far too many entitled massholes in Mass. and Conn. They need one for pedestrians too!

There aren't enough cops around here, county, sherriff and local altogether, to cover the amount of drunk drivers who drive the roads of Wisconsin every day. There would be a call literally every 5 seconds.

When I come across someone who I consider to be a drunk driver, I get the hell away from them. Rocket past them or stay far behind. Take a different way home. You never know what they'll do next. If you're behind one swerving all over the road, speeding then putzing, speeding then putzing, the only safe thing to do is get the hell away from them. Only after you report them, of course.....but as I said, if there were a hotline for it, the operators would never get a break!

Yeah we have that here in Ohio too. ONly it doesnt get enforced or investigated very much for two main reasons:

1: The lack of funding for law enforcement coupled with the cost of fuel rising causing many departments to cut back on highway patrols.

2: The frivolous or malicious useage of the line to just get even with someone else because they didnt like it.

Its good in theory but like many things with anonymous tipping subject to petty vindictive usage. I'll just agree with Blas in if you see someone like that get away from them, drive defensively for yourself and the one syou care about and hope the person impales themselves on a light pole sooner rather than later.

I remember seeing the *SP (*MSP if you're in the 413) signs on the highway, but I wonder if they decided to ditch that service for just having people dial 911 instead.

911 Is great from a landline but horrible from a cell phone. I had to call the New Hampshire State police once when I witnessed an accident on 93 south. went straight to my cell provider. I had GPS shut off so I had to tell them where I was so they could transfer me to the State police. Maybe it's different now?

Oh, I don't doubt it's a bad idea. We witnessed a pretty bad accident when we lived in Virginia, and so I dialed 911 on my cell phone. Only thing is, the nearest cell tower was in the next county over, which wasn't far from us; I had to tell the 911 operator in county X that I was actually in county Y, and they transferred me right over. Of course, had I been new to the area...

I love you!!! I was driving a friend to her mothers and there was a VERY drunk driver in front of us. Dialed 911 and ended up w/ NM dispatch. (I live near the border) Just programmed it into my phone.

Gunsage: Tis okay. Here in Ohio its *DUI or 1-800 GRAB DUI to report a drunk driver. 911 depends on the cell provider as to who or where you wind up talkign to. So its to be used for really emergency emergencies.

The good news is out of all the drivers I encounter (mostly southeast, east, and northeast side Columbus), I only had one within the last 6 months that I would've reported for drunk driving. I followed him to his apartment complex, mostly because it was on my way anyway, but also because he was weaving pretty bad...almost went off into the ditch 3 times (near telephone poles, no less).

Beyond that, Ohio drivers can be crappy, but mostly in the forms of "ZOMG WEATHOR!!!" and "GO SPEED RACER GO!!!" :p Although, Camcar did try to run me off the road one time...but that's another story entirely.

hehehe oh yeah. A little bit of weather and 275 aroud cincy goes ballistic. As the weatherphobes and the speedaddicts suddenly discover the laws of physics do still apply.

Oh and come out the country and then you get guys like me or worse. Where the speed limit may say 35 but we take that to meen inches per hour....heehehe

Rember to wave to the man on the international harvester!!
