I just noticed a HUGE error on my resume.

It says I graduated in December 2002. I'm graduating this month. :o

I've already sent it to a couple of schools.

I emailed them both, saying there was an error on my resume and correcting it.

Should I do anything more, like call them?

:runaway:

You should drink heavily.
Now what's this about a resume?:)

Personally, I think I would call. It's a pretty big error and something I would want corrected right away, so that nobody can come back later and say I lied on my resume.

Is this something that could cost me an interview, even if I correct it?

I wouldn't think so. I personally wouldn't hold it against you, but it isn't my call to make.

No, Kerrisan, I don't think this would cost you an interview.....in fact, it could be considered a follow-up while you show the potential employer that you cared enough to call and correct an error.

I don't know how hard it is to get jobs in school districts in your area; but I decided against being an education major because there was a lot of competition...if you wanted a "good" job. Did/do you graduate this semester? If so; good luck with everything! I still have one more semester :(

I'd say damage done depends on where you're applying, and the position therein. English teacher who can't proofread properly? Circular filing cabinet. History techer? Ditto. Geography? Eh, typo, whatever. General studies (no speciality)? Don't do it again.

I agree with IPF here, Kerr...it speaks volumes that you'd point the error out in the interest of clarity rather than carry on as though you never saw it. Everyone - even teachers! - make mistakes, but the people I want teaching in my schools are the ones who are able to own their mistakes and move on. :) Good luck.
