View Full Version : Teeth whiteners?

So my dentist told me I should try crest whitestrips. I had asked about the Bright smile treatment he had posters advertising all over the office and apparently this procedure is over $600.

So here I am, with gooey strips on my upper and lower teeth.
Lower teeth have a bit of overlapping so the strip doesn't really stay flat on the teeth. My mouth is watering uncontrollably and it's causing the strips to shift around on me.

Have used them for 2 days and have not noticed any difference, even though package says in 3 you will. You have to keep them on for 30 minutes. It's like putting tape over your teeth and not moving your lips or tongue around it for a half and hour.

Anyone else annoyed by these? Tried them? Liked them? Any other brands used?

I've tried the crest whitening strips, they are pretty good but a major pain.

I did the BriteSmile deal and it did cost a lot, but it lasts so long and it's so hassle free. Every now and again, I have to get a touch up, but it's not bad.

i used something where i put a gel on some kind of mouth piece and then stuck it in my mouth and kept a uv light on it for 30 minutes
not only did i salivate like crazy which made it very ineffective since i kept needing to get rid of what was in my mouth, but it didnt stay together very well

My husband got a script for 5% fluoride toothpaste, that combined with a fluoride leave-on gel has really gotten his choppers a lot whiter.

I used the Target brand strips for a while, and liked them. I had to go easy though, because if I used them too much ("too much"=according to directions, btw!), I'd get white sores on my gums from the bleach.

But they did the job and were easy to use, so I stuck with them until the day they were sold out. My husband picked up the Crest strips instead and while I found them a bit easier to deal with once they were in my mouth (a bit of a hassle getting them in, but nothing unbearable), I can't stand them. They work, but even using them once makes my teeth SO FREAKING SENSITIVE I can hardly stand it. It's not even that it just gets sensitive, but that it stays that way for days! It's awful.

I'm such a weenie. :(

I've been thinking of trying those strips, but my teeth are ummm. . . not straight, so they probably wouldn't work too well. Luckily, this Wednesday, I'm going to the orthodontist to be told what needs to be done, and set up an appointment to get my wisdom teeth taken out along with anything else that needs to come out.

Maybe after all is said and done, I'll give these things a try.

Unless your teeths are black or piss yellow, why bother. My teeth are "off-white" always was. Don't bother me any :p

The foamy Listerine whitening mouth rinse is pretty good. You swish it before you brush and I can see a difference when I use it regularly. It probably doesn't have the dramatic effect most people are looking for though.
