when Bert & Ernie are way funnier and far less annoying?
Elmo is so annoying, and the whole talking in the third person act is getting old...
(yes my boys are watching sesame street right now)

I miss old school Sesame Street, where there was little or no Elmo. Just Kermit and Grover and Big Bird and Oscar and Telly and Bert and Ernie and Forgetful Jones (I'm really dating myself with that last one) and all them.

Forgetful jones... hmmm.... was he the one on the juice glasses that talked to other characters on juice glasses?
And they still have some of the older bits and songs that play. Just not too often.

A bit of a rant here, but I think that spot kind of insults/underestimates kids' intelligence. And maybe I have a dirty mind, but I cracked up when I was flipping channels and this was on, and what does the furry critter say?
"Guess what Elmo's thinking about today!"
*dadadada*
"BALLS! You know, BALLS!"
Lost all self-control, I did.

If I can find that as a clip on YouTube or somewhere, I am posting that... I can't stop laughing now, thanks! My boys are looking at me like I have lost my mind!

No. That was Itsy Bitsy Tenny Weenie Super Guy.
Forgetful Jones was the cowboy who kept forgetting things.

Speaking of Sesame Street, has anyone been to the Bert is Evil (http://www.bertisevil.tv/)page?

the cowboy was a muppet/puppet right? If so, then I think I remember him... vaguely.

I had to put this link in. My husband found it on YouTube. The song itself is fine, but use a bleep in place of the right adjectives (in this case, the word "count"), the song takes a different turn...

I thought about posting that one
I *beep* the candles on the shelf, when I'm alone I *beep* myself . . .

My parents thought Elmo was a cult leader.

I find Elmo to be very cute.
I so want the TMX Elmo... oh yes, that would be a pure delight.

Let me show you MY gray hairs, young'un . . .;)
I can remember Mr. Hooper making an occasional appearance and Mr. Snuffleuppagus.
Yes folks, I'm as old as Sesame Street . . it premiered the year I was born.:p

Oh yes - Mr Hooper and Mr Snuffleupagus. I loved those two.
Elmo didn't make an appearance until loooong after I stopped watching Sesame Street.

When Tickle Me Elmo came out ten years ago, I had a simple question:
"Who the fuck is Elmo?"
Tells you when *I* was watching Sesame Street!

An incredibly annoying red thing that refers to itself in the third person.

Man I was never so surprised to find out the voice of Elmo is this guy:

Needless to say, it wasn't what I expected.

Don't know why you would be surprised.
The voice of Bart Simpson is a woman. People can often do amazing things with their voices. Especially professional voice actors.

No way, I thought a woman had to be doing the voice of Elmo.

You can tell Bart's voice is a woman. Characters that are children and/or have higher pitched voices are usually done by women, so I thought for sure Elmo's voice actor was female since Elmo has one of the higher pitched voices you'll hear.
I have a theory on how he's able to do that voice, but it involves C-clamps

I never liked Elmo. My disdain for him grew when I was 13. I was in the hospital and some two year old kept hitting me with an Elmo DVD because I wouldn't give her my "acidic stomach contents leaving through esophogus" bucket. Why the hell she wanted it, I'll never know. Funny thing is, that furry hairball made more acidic stomach contents leave by my esophogus.

Elmo wasn't even there when I was watching Sesame Street.
Actually, I recently realized how long he actually has been around and I was pretty surprised...
