Ever have this happen to you:
You're getting situated on the sofa, remote in hand and turning it to whatever channel you want to see a movie you've been waiting to see for a long time and then, right as it's coming on, the phone rings????
This happened just last night . . . one of my girlfriends called just as Clerks II was coming on Showtime . . . needless to say, I got off right about the time the Quick Stop burned down and Randall asked if he'd left the coffee pot on again . .
I settled down again, snuggled up against a pillow and about halfway through, it rings AGAIN.
Okay, I'll forgive Bonehead for calling . . . especially since he hadn't called since late Thursday evening (damn schedule of his) and I'd been worried and leaving messages and call back numbers all day.
But it's usually my luck . . . any other time, especially if there's nothing on NOBODY wants to call or show up. It's always when I'm wanting to watch something special . . .
Happened Friday afternoon too . . . I was wanting to watch one of my fave LMN movies and right after it came on, the phone rang (it was for Mom this time) and next thing I know, I'm outside trying to straighten up the front porch because her friend Penny is on her way over to visit.
Is this some sort of psychic phenomenon here . . . does some sort of terrestrial message go out saying "DGC wants to quality time . . somebody go spoil it for her?":headscratch:
Am I the only person in the world this could possibly happen to?

Happens to me all the time. Used to happen at the law firm too -- we would be dead, dead, dead, but as soon as I or the other assistant stepped into the restroom or out for lunch, the phones would ring off the hook and it would be more than one person could handle.
I think there's some kind of sensor in the world saying "[blah] can't be bothered right now -- BOTHER THEM!!!"

As bad of a person as it may make me sound, if someone calls while I'm watching something I feel is important or in the middle of writing a post on here, I will ignore the phone and call the person back. I'm pretty positive I've called people and interrupted "moments" before as well.

In my supreme arrogance, I simply don't feel any obligation whatsoever to answer the phone if it's not a good time. That's why I have an answering machine and caller ID.
If it's immediate family, I'll pick up, in case it's an emergency. If not, they can leave a message. Which I will mor than likely check within the next 30 minutes or so, just in case THAT'S not an emergency.
The phone is there to make your life easier, not harder. ;)

We have a DVR box which comes in handy when the phone rings. Since I live with family we tend to have one night as family night where we pick up dinner, settle down and watch our ritual shows. It is only one night a week, and usually the only night that we do anything together since we are all busy with jobs and lives, etc.
It never fails that someone will call midway through a show, of course, but with the DVR we can just hit pause and resume the moment they hang up. It is rather handy. (Especially since my stepdad's daughter is about almost through with a trouble pregnancy and is still in the risk to deliver early and keeps thinking she is having contractions. We get a lot of phone calls from her.)

Well if that makes you bad then so am I. I don't even bother to turn on the ringer on my home phone. I've already worked at a call center, I don't need to be on-call at home as well.

Now I feel like a hypocrite...
My boyfriend always says to call him when I wake up. So I did. I called at 7. That's when the new Terminator show started.
He answered, didn't even say hi, said "Can you call me back at 8? Terminator's on!"
Hell I just don't answer the phone if that happens. Why bother?
I wasn't very happy with him.

Ditto. Especially since 90% of the time, it's a family member calling just to "see what you're doing" and possibly go on for two hours about nothing, or a friend begging for advice that they have absolutely no intentions of taking. I think it's best not to answer than to pick up and be irritated with someone. I almost never answer my home phone or my cell, I just don't like phones.

It never fails for me. I sit down to watch Chelsea and it's always and I mean always when a good play starts and Chelsea look like scoring I hear this: RINNNNNNGGGGGG, RINNNNNNNNNGGGGGG, RINNNNGGGGG!!! It never fails. When I lived with my parents it was always one of my sister's friends calling. Sometimes the damn phone would ring 5 times in a row whenever my family was out. And people wonder why I hate phones.

Lately, the phone seems to ring at the most annoying times.
Why is it that as soon as I get into the car, and start driving home from work...the phone starts ringing? Not that I'd answer it anyway--it's dangerous, and with a five-speed, damn impossible. So if it rings, I let it, and look for somewhere to pull over. I'm not about to crack up the car over a phone call.
Just today, the phone rang when I was in the bathroom. No phone calls all afternoon, until I went in there. Did I get up to get it? Um, that would be no :p

The office could be dead all day. The second I need to use the restroom or start to have lunch, it seems like the entire universe is about to explode & the only safe place is in the office.
I hate it when I am about to watch a movie or cuddle up with a girlfriend(back when I had one) and someone calls. Most likely it is family. Sometimes it would be a friend. And I would of course answer it. I would find out if there was an emergency or important, then I would talk. If they just wanted to BS around, then I would tell them I have to go.

I never answer my phone unless I'm expecting a call or the caller is someone I wish to speak to. Having to carry 3 phones at work has made me never want to hear a ringing phone again. I also don't own a cell phone and never will.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...phones are evil.

Yeah, I was trying to watch Dogfights yesterday and my mom stood right in my line of sight, taking pictures for eBay or something.
Later that day, I was trying to watch Predator 2 and my dad kept calling me into the living room to yell at me about the dishwasher or something.
