My coworkers are having a party for one of their birthdays (and mine too, yay!) on Saturday night. A lot of us from 3rd shift (well, at least the ones who don't have to do overtime on Saturday night!) and a few from weekends (they'll come for a few hours before work) are going to be there.
They've already got the decorations, but they're a little stuck with games. I don't mean drinking games (although there will be alcohol there). What kind of games can be played at a party that won't...I guess I'm trying to say, won't be too revealing or anything that would humiliate any of us when we return to work the next night?
Obviously it wouldn't be a great idea to play long games like Monopoly. Does anyone have any advice as to what kind of games we could play? The only game we have set so far is a pinata, which won't take long at all to break.
We just wanna have a fun time. Any ideas? Most parties I've ever been to were just drinking games or stupid kids acting crazy.

Outburst is hella fun. We played that at Thanksgiving this year and had a blast. There were about 25-30 of us including adults and kids.

Card games are always good. You've got your standard poker and blackjack games, but whenever I go to a party, somebody breaks out the cards for a couple games of Asshole. If you don't know the rules, PM me and I'll (try) to explain them to you.
Have fun! :)

I'm already a master at Presidents and Assholes......thanks anyways Spiffy :)
Card games are fun, but I was thinking more of like what sportsmom suggested.....maybe even charades or pictionary. Or LIMBO!

Battle of the Sexes is a hilarious game.
Bullshit is another good one. It's a card game for those who don't know.

ImagineIff is a good game. I'll second DarthRetard on the Cranium as well.
Personally I'm not real big on card games, although I'd kinda like to learn cribbage.

That'd be awesome. I'll be sure to rattle off some of your ideas tonight at work.
I'm wondering if anyone might have "Scene it".....I have "1 vs 100".

How many are you going to be? Some games aren't really suited for a lot of people, so that's why I'm asking :-)

I card game I find to be alot of fun is called 100 blank cards. You start out with 100 (or more if you need them) blank index cards, some pencils, and your imagination. You divide up the cards equally among people, and they make the cards whatever they want them to be. Items, gain points, lose points, clear the field.... whatever. Each card has to have a title, a drawing, a funny quote or desciption, and whatever action the card is doing. Think Munchkin meets D&D meets....hmmm. Anywho, after all the cards are made, you put them together, deal them out 5 to a player, and let the hilarity begin! Decide who goes first, any action card other than gain points is played on a player of thier choice, you have to have to draw to put five cards in your hand at the beginning of your turn (because you can make cards to make someone discard all their cards, etc.), and you can either play until someone has a set number of points, or an alloted time limit. You can cheese the rules as much as you want before hand, just make sure they are clear beforehand, and hell, have fun. My husband and I play all the time. It's a great game to play, imo, and if a card slows down the flow of the game, you can toss it out and make a new one! It's cheap too!
(if you need some visual examples, pm me, or for a clearer description!)
Munchkin can be a lot of fun too if you want to spend the money to play it.

It's been a while since I've had a party. Yes, folks, that's what happens when you're married with a child/children. :( In any case, here's what I would recommend from experience...
- Apples to Apples.
- Poker.
- Hearts (4 players, but you can always trade out and set max score to be lower for quicker games).
- Just about any system that allows you to have fighting games. Or, if they're into it, you can fit in 4 players with wrestling games or Def Jam: Fight for NY.
- Ditto on the systems, but with FPSs.
- Another ditto: Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, DDR.
- Balderdash.
Really, a variety of board games and video games would work, but the ones I mentioned are the ones I recommend.

The Rizla game; always an old fave. If no Rizlas, then use post it notes; just write the name of an actor, TV personality or singer on the Rizla, then stick to the forehead of the person next to you. You then take turns to ask questions on who you are; first person to guess right is the winner.
Twister is also mucho fun. XD
Wink Murder; pick a person first to be the detective, then send him/her out the room. Then silently pick out a murderer. The detective comes back in, and the murderer gets to kill people by winking at them. When you get the wink, die in as dramatic a way as possible. XD When the detective guesses the murderer, the murderer is then the detective and goes out the room. If they don't guess, then the murderer carries on til he/she is last one in, then he/she is the detective. Hours of fun, honestly.

Here is a couple of games I learned in the navy....
Drinko- Take a big peg board and basically make it into a massive plinko board but instead of winning money, have crap like "drink two shots" or whatever at the bottom pockets. Hockey pucks make great plinko pucks....
Mao- It's a basic card game that is addictive as hell. Basically the only person that knows the rules is the dealer. The other players must try and figure them out by playing. First person to guess all the rules correctly is the winner and the next dealer. No questions to the dealer are allowed and once the cards are dealt, the rules can't change. At first, its simple but believe me, some of the games went for hours before the deal changed hands. Hands can be played in anyway but the key is that the dealer cannot change the rules once he starts a round. It's like "Calvin Ball" with cards.
Drunk Risk- Basically the same rules as "Risk" except you have the option of an extra reenforcement piece for every shot you drink. It's funny because people that try to slam a bunch of booze to pull ahead early always end up a complete mess after the game goes a couple of rounds.

Check out Out of The Box Games, who have Apples to Apples as one of their many games. Ceneplexity is cool and works with variable number of players.

Along those lines, If you have a Wii, get some controllers and A few multi-player games. Also, If you have a 360, you can pick up Scene It for the console. The PS2 also has Buzz Which is similar.
If they're a geek crew :p Pick up Munchkin and a few expansion packs. Tons of fun, tons of laughs and not too hard.

One we always played, aside from Uno and Canasta with teams, was a game called Dirty Minds. Innocent answers, very suggestive clues. :) Trivial Pursuit is always a nice choice, especially with the 70/80/90's series. And I heartily recommend SceneIt for XBox 360 if you have one!

I second Apples to Apples!
We also used to play "Murder." We'd pass out lima beans to everyone. One bean had an "M" marked on it. That guy was the murderer. Everyone keeps their lima bean secret.
During the course of the party, the murderer goes about looking for people who are off on their own. He shows them the marked bean, and they are "dead". We actually would have people lie where they fell until discovered (if they were off in some remote area, they were allowed to come in and say, "hey I was killed out by the bonfire just now" so they didnt' lie there indefinately undiscovered. )
The trick for the murderer is to not get caught. The trick for everyone else is to figure out who was unaccounted for when the murder went down. This is nothing if not a paranoia building exercise! We made the rule that the murder can take out up to two people at one time, but no more. Dead people are out of the game. They can walk around the party, of course, but they can't offer help, hints, clues, and they can't be killed again. Basically, they are ghosts.
If someone thinks they know who the murderer is, he can officially make a declaration. If he is correct, the murderer comes clean. If he's not, the game continues, but the person making the mistaken charge is out of the game (though he can still be murdered. )
This game is an AWESOME ice breaker, as it give people who don't know each other something fun in common to talk to, both while the game is in session and after it's over. It can be played throughout the course of the party without interfereing with other activities.

Sounds like fun; what I used to like about wink murder was the very dramatic death that you could do... XD So everyone's sitting down in a circle, then someone clutches their throat and screams hammily...
You can also play "Murder In The Dark", tho I would recommend doing so in an empty room, with nothing that can be knocked down and broken. Basically one person is the murderer, and he/she murders people by grabbing their shoulders in the dark. XD If you get murdered, you scream and lie down. If you make it out the dark room into the lit one, you're safe.

Balderdash and Beyond Balderdash are great. The more insane the people, the better it is :)

I second the "Cranium". We always play that every Christmas eve at DH's family's gathering. I love to tease my husband about his 'charades' pick last year where he had to act out 'Shirley Temple', and he sang & danced "Good Ship Lollipop"...
