Doe anyone know if Auto Zone will install the car battery you just bought from them?

I desperately need a new battery (it's going to be hella cold here), and Mom is buying me a new one today.

The thing is, I don't know how to put it in myself. I think I can handle installing an alternater, though...

Yes I know it's easy. No, I do NOT want to install it myself.

I'm just sad.

I know that the Autozone here in town installs batteries. They installed my new one for me back in September.

It depends on the autozone. I'm sure that if you were to go at the right time and the manager wasn't around you could probably slip one of the employes a 10 or something to do it for you. It's real quick and easy to do. I do know that the autozone's around here don't do it for you.

Another Idea is to call around to autoparts stores and find one that will install it for you.

You can handle an alternator, but not a battery???

Is it just me, or is that a little bass-ackwards?

Here's some instructions (http://www.ehow.com/how_112575_change-cars-battery.html) for you...

I was joking about that...I watched my best guy friend install my new alternator in my then car, adn it seemed easy enough....but I also wasn't doing it myself.

Anyway...I got the nice manager man to install the battery for me, and gave him $5 for his trouble. Maybe I could have given him a bit more, since he had to take the cover off the air filter looking thingy first, but he seemed shocked at the $5, so I guess that was OK.

If it's anything like the battery in a Polaris bike, then $5 wouldn't have been enought to get me touch it. They're fitted with dust covers for good reason, but depending on the model it either slides right off or has to be manhandled off and pulled out under the wheel arch.

The local autozone will occasionally help someone install batteries if they look like they need it and its a simple job. But usually they dont as its a liability issue for them. And if you look like you know which end of a wrench to hold they'll look at you and laugh if you ask them to do it for you......

Hopefully it wasnt a Dodge Intrepid you have to take the whole cleanerbox off to get to the battery. Nice cars just a total pain to get to anythign on the engine. I swear car designeres after the 90s stopped lookign at ease of repair and looked to see how hard they could make getting to things.

Congratulatios on having a new battery. Good batteries this time of year are a very nice thing....Actually they are nice all year.

My car is a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. Woo hoo.

The first person I talked to was the sucky woman manager, who sent me to the nice man manager. He rocked. The woman had a chip on her shoulder that was almost visable to the naked eye. Excuse me for not being able to install my own battery, that was harder to get to then it looked. Grrrrrr.

I should have gotten the new battery in November, but I kept putting it off, what with bills to pay, and my mom's birthday.

Don't feel too bad.

I have a male friend, who happens to have a wife/ex wife/7 children and a SUPREME machismo attitude... and can't handle a screwdriver without breaking something expensive.
