so we are in another snow storm. we are supposed to get up to 18 inches. right now, there is probably at least 8-10. before the storm happened, there was already about 6 inches on the ground. the roads are nasty. the Social Security office closed at 1030, all the local schools(excpet the one my brother goes to,HA!) closed, my fiances work, cancelled second and third shift.....
its nasty. i can barely see my car where it is parked. i have pics on my myspace page for those who have me added. ill be adding more pics to it later.
last night, before i left work, i was listening to the radio, and the local station had callers saying they were only going 3 MPH down a road with a speed limit of 40-55. i was scared to drive home, but before i got on the roads, i guess there were a lot pf plows out, so i was able to go 40.
but im off today, so i don't have to deal with it! yay me! so who else is getting hit hard?

Up here the Weather Channel said we were supposed to get 1 or 2 inches of snow tops.
We got about 4 or 5 inches last night and it's nearly a whiteout right now. Some more snow is coming in off the lake.
Moral of the story: The Weather Channel is full of shite.

We got 8 inches on Sunday, but some of that melted on Monday.
It started snowing early this morning and just stopped an hour or so ago.. I think we have about 14-18 inches

Grr! Another storm, and another 300+ accidents on the roads here, all by morons who just won't slow the fuck down.
This morning on my way to classes I drove 10 km over the highway speed limit, but only when there were no cars in front of me. Some drivers I completely left behind, others zoomed past me like they were on fire.
On my way back home I left 6+ car lengths in front of me. Lost count of how many took that as in invitation to merge infront of me.
Idiots.
We finally got a break. I was watching the news and I heard "Big storm coming" but then the weather girl said it was all in southern and eastern (southeast?) Wi. Thank heaven.
I'm willing to bet we have gotten more than 5 feet of snow just this winter....we got 3 inches on Monday. Like I've said before, this winter, we've gotten at least 1 or 2 inches usually 3 days a week, so 3-6 inches a week. Sometimes more.
It was nice to have a break. Usually it snows, goes without for a day or so, then snows again, rinse wash repeat. It gets OLD and annoying. Considering last winter, there was maybe only one or two bad snow days a month. If that. And maybe 2 feet of snow all winter.
In my city we got 2-3 inches of a mixture of freezing rain and tiny hail pebbles. I've never seen the roads covered in inches of tiny hail before! lol. Looked odd. Then it started to snow about an hour ago. My car is covered in ice and snow.. its depressing.. :(

Does it seem like the climate is changing compared to 20 years ago??? When I go up to Michigan and see Lake Erie I notice that the lake is no longer frozen completely during the winter. It used to be that it would be so cold up there you could easily ride a snowmobile on the ice, sometimes even a car! The real cold snaps we've had haven't even gotten below zero. We now have year-round severe weather. Global warming or not, the climate to me IS different than it was growing up.
Ditch, I used to believe in global warming until this winter. I will agree that it doesn't get as cold as it once did years ago (hell, we may only get 2 or 3 weeks worth of -20 or colder but the rest of the winter is usually seasonable or slightly above average), but this winter, to me, has proven that old fashioned winters are back. Not temperature-wise, but snow wise. We have not gotten this much snow in at least 5 years.

im in southeastern WI. its over now! YAY! i went out to take more pics, and i took a step, and my foot just kept sinking till it was up to my knee. my little dog loves the snow though. she didn't want to go in the deep part, so she kept to my steps, and were the truck was.

thanks alot we just got dumped on 45 minute bus ride took two hours, due to getting stuck 3 times and a nice detour. they're pulling the plows because they're getting stuck  -and the bus company had 27 buses stuck at around 4:30 pm-we actually saw four of them. And with the 3 feet of snow at the end of our driveway my husband can't go to work tonight.
And my neighbors built an igloo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blaquekatt/2248005962/)
Been there done that already a few times in December :(

Wtf? There is still places that get snow? It was in the freaking 70s today. I walked around in jeans and a sleeveless t-shirt. And I was warm. I have my fan going right now. The record high, for my location, for this date, was 60 degrees Fahrenheit, set in 1962. Today, I'm pretty sure it was over 70. Wtf mate?

I am in PA as well, and it was cold today and raining. You are so lucky it was that warm.

GAH! If I hear any more reports with the words "cold, rain, snows, freezing, and blizzard" I'm going to go crazy. We had freezing rain yesterday and it was a pain to get to school in addition to scraping it off. And we've been getting hit with plenty of snow.

Well it only took me an hour to shovel my car out of my parking spot.
I love our maintenance guys.. they left a nice big pile of snow behind my car.
How nice, hawkchick!
Ya wanna know what they do where my parents live?
When the plow goes by, they leave all the excess snow in a pile....at the END OF THE ROAD. Where people will inevitably get STUCK!

And at my store, they leave it all in a ginormous drift in front of the emergency exits for me to clear out.
Took me close to an hour to clear all the snow away from 2 exits today.

We got about 3 inches of snow on Monday night into Tuesday, but then had some rain on Tuesday night. Wednesday we got about 6 more inches of snow overnight and last night we got around another foot of snow. And that's on top of the 2 feet of frozen snow we already had on the ground. Yeah, we now have snow up to and over some of the windows of our house now. Fun times.
All I ask for is a week where I don't have to get up early to shovel out my car and drive way slower than normal on crappy roads to work.
