Anyone know of a good site to buy books online? The only sites I've found with the books I need use shipping that takes between 14 and 21 business days or more! Last semester I used half I believe and it took several weeks as well. Do all book selling sites use similarly long shipping?

thanks for trying but those sites also have week or more shipping or over 10 dollars in shipping to get it quicker
guess next time i'll have to try to get the book info earlier, dunno how, but this way is just too expensive

my personal fave is:
www.addall.com
they search over 50 new and used bookstores, list the price with shipping(and shipping speed) and have an area for out of print(have gotten several excellent deals on those I tell ya, oop box set of a civil war novel series normally $120 per book-$40 for the set of three in the box!!!)

they also have a music section and movies I love them

Back to school, huh? Geez, I hate this. Luckily one of my professors told me that buying a book for his class was totally useless. I wish the rest of the staff would feel that way.

Sorry, I really dont know any good sites.

i spent over $700 for books this semester
i cant see how books can be justified at this high a price
5 classes totalling over 700 dollars... ridiculous!
some online sites even cost more than my college bookstore which costs more than the actual price of the books
i dont get how that can work and have people keep buying from them

$700? Are you a science or math major? I'm taking 6 classes and will have paid (when I get my last book that's on backorder) about $350, and they're all senior major classes. That sucks for you...

I usually buy my textbooks on half.com or amazon. I've never had to wait more than a week for them.

4 classes this semester = $413.88 in books

I don't know any good sites, but ask around if there are any textbook stores outside of campus. My college's bookstore is unorganized and a professor of all people told me to go to a textbook store that was across the street from my university. I've saved loads; I do think that it's stupid and bad business practice to to pay out $20 for a book only to sell it for $70. It's these things that make us turn to online stores, I actually heard that one politician in my state wanted to put a stop to it.

I just use half.com to get my books. I didn't buy any of my books online this year though. Most of my books were late coming into the bookstore so I didn't know what to get. It was too late to order by the time they came in. Occasionally I'll go look at Borders to see what they have if one of my books happen to be alot more expensive then usual.

mbsdirect.net

You can't blame the seller for shipping costs (unfortunately) they may reduce the cost with specials, but you're still going to have to pay $$$ to get it to you in the next few days.

The price of college textbooks really pisses me off, but the printers don't get the same volume from those sales as with other books, so it's the law of supply and demand.
