I got a call from a friend of mine on Friday night. She wanted to know if I would go to a hockey game with her on Saturday. She told me a friend had given her his tickets because he wouldn't be able to use them. I had no plans and figured why not. I'm not a sports fan but it's kind of fun to be in the crowd.
Well, it turned out the tickets were for a luxury booth! With free food and beer and margaritas. :-)
And our team even one! AZ Coyotes 4 : LA Kings 3
And just as a sort of topper, Taco Bell has a promotion going that if AZ scores 4 or more, you can cash in your ticket for a free Chaluppa. lol!!!
The funny thing is, I've only been to one other hockey game in my life. It was the LA Kings when I lived in LA. Wayne Gretzky was playing for them at that time.
And now he's the coach of the AZ Coyotes.

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they all get skybox seats and look down at the regular seated people:
"Poor non-sky box losers. Watching hockey without fondue, if you can even call that hockey."

I go to hockey games every time I'm down south! I've been to games in Florida and North Carolina. Not only can I get decent seats, but I can get players' autographs if I want, because they aren't mobbed like they are up north.
I've never been to an NHL game in Canada. Its virtually impossible to get tickets here. :(

My dad's boss has company seats that he often gives him tickets to regular games. Beautiful seating, just a section off from the main camera assembly. I could literally take a bottle cap and bean one of them if I wanted (not that I wanted to)
Next season he's looking into getting skybox passes.

I've never liked the idea of the sky box there so far away it can't make for a good shwo unless you have binoculars. I'd rahter be row one if nothing else i have a chance of being killed by a errant puck

Free food and booze does sound nice (especially with the concession prices!!) but for me nothing beats sitting behind the goal or against the glass. I've paid the premiums for these seats a few times and I was not disappointed! Now, if they'd put the luxury boxes there, I'd be the first in line! :D
Glad you had a great time at the game - watching it live is the best way, IMO...even a high-def big-screen TV doesn't do the game justice.

Agreed!
I recently went to a hockey game with Broomjockey here in Edmonton, and I had a great time. It was a goal-filled, fight-filled, chippy game...that my team gassed, 5-0.
The only tickets we could get were up in the nosebleeds, but they were great, simply for the fans around us. A block of Flames fans were arguing with a block of Oilers fans, and a little boy (4-5? ish?) was trying to counteract his older sisters cheers of "Let's Go Oilers" with a high-pitched "They suck!".
It was awesome!

I was actually at that same game Spiffy. I've been meaning to ask how they could play so horribly. No offence or anything, but CuJo was in rare form that night: bad.
And skybox seats aren't too bad there. From what I could spy (they were also within bottlecap throwing distance), it would be absolute prime seating for just about anyone for a hockey game. A concert, not so much.

Best seats I've gotten for the Wings was 10 rows behind the goal. I love going to the Joe.

Really? Wow, that was a regular CS fiesta then!
Also, I order you to give me tickets from your dad's boss! Please?! *flutters eyelashes* I'd just love to have some decent seats for a change. Stupid nosebleeds. Still an awesome game though. My favourite was when Cuj tried to start a fight. :D I've got pics of it on Facebook!

Oh, that was CLASSIC! More bonus points for all of the classy Edmonton fans that heckled Cujo. Hey, remember back in the day when Cujo was a god in Edmonton?

You just hit the nail on the head as to why they heckle him. They hate the fact that he's playing for a different team. It's like he turned traitor, especially considering what team he's on now. Any other team, any other goalie. It's just one of those things.

Cujo? I remember when he played for the Wings. Did okay for us but I would've been happier with Legace. I am glad that we got Hasek and Osgood back.

It's not that he's playing for another team, these things happen. It's that he's playing for Calgary of all places. That's the whole insult right there.
My fave part of the game was the start of the third. It's the best when the penalty is issued for fighting with a time of one second.

Yeah, that was awesome too. And I did say "especially considering where he's playing now" :p
So. Those tickets, when should I come by to pick them up? Heh.:lol:*sigh*

I think the operative phrase is "when you have the capablity to pry them from my cold dead hands".:p
