Just found out my great-grandfather passed away today. He was in the hospital due to a heart attack he had earlier this week, and he had another one. He'd been living in a nursing home for the past several months. I don't feel nearly as bad as I feel like I should - I didn't know him too well and he lived to be 95, so he had a long life. He was a great man, though - my grandfather never ran out of stories about him.
The worst part about this whole thing will probably be my grandparents fighting with my great-grandfather's second wife, who I'll just call "L". My great-grandfather married L after my great-grandmother passed away from cancer some 30 years ago. Since then, my grandparents and her have never gotten along, and for good reason - she's characterized herself as being very greedy and self-centered. I'm almost glad I'll be out of town this weekend when the funeral will probably be considering all the fighting that will undoubtedly be going on :(
