I've read on several websites that a good way to help a cough at night is to slather Vicks Vapo Rub on the soles of your feet, then put on socks over it before you go to bed.
I'm not feeling too hot today, and might give it a try. Anyone else have success with this? It sounds really odd, but I was going to use some of the Vapo Rub on my chest to help me sleep, anyway.

I know that if you rub onion on the soles of your feet in around 30 mins you'll taste it, other than that...?

This (http://lighthousepatriotjournal.wordpress.com/2007/04/18/myth-blaster-vicks-vaporub-and-the-cough/) seems to indicate that it could work . . . I'm going to try it!!

If it's just a cough, a tablespoon of honey worked for me a few months ago.
I got that home remedy in an email a while ago.
I haven't tried it, but I sent the email to a couple of people I knew.
One of them was just telling me a couple of weeks ago that she had tried it and it worked great.

Try some Ludens cough drops. Always works for me.

My high school chem teacher told me about rubbing vicks on your feet. She explained what it does and it sounded reasonable enough. Can't remember what she said now though.

I dunno about your feet, but I rub it on my chest and then cover it with a warm towel before turning in. The vapor really helps. Also, steam vaporizers with eucalyptus oil is helpful. Sleep with your head and shoulders elevated and keep the humidity in the room up a bit with the steam. Works for us.
Lemon juice with honey is good. Eat some straight or take it in a mullien tea, if you can get it.

Well, it did help me sleep. However, I also used it on my chest and neck, so it may have just been that. Once it warmed up my feet, though, I actually didn't have the chills as badly as I had.
Of course, today I'm much worse and shouldn't have come in to work at all. Pretty sure I've got a fever, and can't find a ride home for a couple more hours.
Methinks it may be the flu - I never get flu shots. Plus there's that weird new strain out there, so I dunno.
Anyhoo, just wanted to let everyone know that I would recommend the vicks on the bottom of the feet - if anything, it at least made it easier to fall asleep.
