I just finished the year-end bookkeeping for my dad. It was my first year doing this, and it was a struggle. I had to learn a lot about accounting, and it was far more work than I had anticipated. But its all done, and my dad is thrilled. He says everything is more organized than it has been in years.

So he's giving me a bonus! He is giving my husband and I round trip plane tickets to anywhere in Canada. Wherever we want to go!

So my husband wants to go out west to Banff, and I want to go out east to Cape Breton. But I'm sure there are a thousand places we haven't thought of yet.

Dad is covering the plane tickets and a car rental if we need one. Hotels and meals are on us. Which sort of has me thinking that Banff might be too pricey for us. My husband is a suck and really likes four-star hotels...which at Banff prices, we can't afford.

Any suggestions? Where to go? Places to stay? Things to do?

Disneyland?...lol.

There isn't a disneyland in Canada.

A serious suggestion is if you were thinking Cape Breton, maybe Victoria. There's some beautiful scenery out there, and then you can take the ferry over to Vancouver and explore a bit if you get sick of nature ;)

Maybe I'm biased...but how about Newfoundland? Yes, seriously. It's beautiful here in the late spring, summer, and early fall.

Victoria is pretty, but damn expensive. I lived in BC for several years and I would only visit Victoria occasionally. But, it is beautiful there too. I'm not a huge fan of Vancouver though...I used to live there once upon a time before moving out to Langley, then Abbotsford, and finally Chilliwack before I left BC.

Newfoundland tourism is doing a lot of advertising here in Ontario right now. If the place is half as beautiful as the commercials show, I'd love to go. My husband's worried he'll be bored, so I'd have to convince him.

I hear the Yukon is nice this time of year or for that pristine beach getaway, there is always Prince Edward Island.

I keed, I keed. I've never been to any of those places.

Well, if Victoria's out of the price range, Edmonton might be a decent choice, depending on when you come. There's a ton of cultural festivals and such during the summer, with probably the biggest one being the Fringe street performers festival, which is quite awesome. If you have some idea of when you're going to make the trip, I could do some research into what's going on. Might help you make your choice.

Hey there is nothing like beautiful downtown Hamilton in the Spring!

*cough cough* The smog starts to drop lower in the atmosphere with the warmer air.

The homeless start to come out of their boxes. The junkies starts to flake off like the buds on a tree. The hookers rain from the heavens like a spring storm.

*sigh* I sure can paint a pretty picture.

Dear sweet Gods! Why would you curse someone out like that?! What has Boozy ever done to YOU?! Gawd. :p

Heh. I've been to Winnipeg. I picked up a souvenir. George, the Folklarama Llama. Yeah. It looked more like a camel.

Well, Lake Lebarge does have some really beautiful beaches. Just don't let your husband go swimming if you ever want some again...the little man may not survive the temperatures.:p

In all seriousness, I vote Banff. It's beautiful, and never at a loss for something to do.

I'll throw in another vote for Prince Edward Island. That's where I was born. ;p

But yes you definitely want to be on one coast or the other ( Ignore the northern coast. Its a scary place. With many hats ). Whether its PEI, Cape Breton or Victoria/Van.

My husband and I already drag our sorry asses to Winnipeg once a year to visit his parents. Usually in the dead of winter.

I keep hearing about all the rich culture in Winnipeg, and I believe it. But you'll never see it, because no one is dumb enough to leave their homes. Winter is followed by Mosquito Season, which is then followed quickly by Winter 2.

Wherever we go, it will be in July or August. Which makes me think the east coast would be nice.
