Just finished moving... Now this...

My SO came home this evening with the news that I didn't want to hear... but was expecting.

We have a couple months or so. He'll be shipping off to the war... again.

They're saying that it'll be a 15 month tour. I hope it's not longer.

Thankfully, they don't have him doing convoy security this time. He'll be staying inside the FOB... unless he heads into whatever "town" is closest.

I'll miss him a lot. Our 8 y/o overheard us talking about it, so now she knows too. She's a little upset about her daddy leaving again.

He's already decided that he's not re-enlisting again. He says he's already missed too many important times in the kids' lives. He's a bit upset that he's going to miss it when the baby starts doing the big things.

I will be alone... with four kids... and three cats... in a new environment... where I know less than a handful of people.

:hug: Best wishes and safe passage for your hubby. I can't say that I understand what you're going through, but I do know what it's like to feel completely isolated in the stress of a big move. I hope that things go well for you. :)

The toughest job in the military is to be the spouse left behind.

Here's some possible good news, though. My nephew is currently there and they have moved everyone's leaves up by about 2 months because they think they tours will be shortened to 12 months as opposed to 15. They might still be 15, but any light a the end of the tunnel is good.
