Even though I was at work when this happened it really has nothing to do with work- this guy wasn't even a customer of ours.

I work in one of those outdoor malls that are so popular here in Florida. In front of each store on our strip is a large bench. They are a favorite resting place for homeless people. So, I'm sitting on the bench in front of my store and one of our resident homeless guys was sitting on the bench in front of the store next door.

This guy in an expensive business suit (EBS) came out of one of the other shops and spied Homeless Guy (HG).

EBS: "Hi, my name is Bill how are you today?" *shakes hands with HG*
HG: *mumbles*
EBS: "So, what do you need?"
HG: *looks confused*
EBS: "You must need something. How are your shoes? Do you need shoes?"
HG: "My shoes are fine but I'm hungry."
EBS: "Okay, you need a meal. Are you sure your shoes are okay? Good shoes are important you don't want to get blisters or sores."
HG: "Nah... my shoes are good."

EBS tells the guy to wait there and he'll be back with a meal. Of course, EBS didn't realize that HG had been on that bench for days and wasn't going anywhere.

He was gone awhile and then brought back a large meal, cigarettes and a couple of extra bottles of soda. I also noticed later that another HG on the bench behind our store had food and soda also. I guess EBS had been busy.

It's true. There are nice people in the world.

Thanks for posting that, Nightangel. It makes me believe that maybe we are worth something as a race in some way, after all.

Thats cool. I'm glad to see that the money he appears to be making didn't go straight to his head. A business client of mine once told me...."Money makes people more of what they already are."

In this case, I'm sure he was always generious and since it would appear he could afford it, has no quams about helping complete strangers on the street.

Nice post NightAngel!!

That guy is sorely needed in more places in the world.

I gave a few bucks to a homeless guy.

Karma came back to me and I got a check from the state for $187 dollars (tax error in my favor).

Maybe the guy had some money that he needed to get rid of in a hurry.
