I just got back from the doctors, which is next to a big supermarket. It's raining lots today, but we have had an extremely dry winter here, and everyone knows that you need to conserve water as much as possible. We aren't allowed to turn on the sprinklers even, so everyone's grass is looking a bit shabby.
So anyhoo, as I finished at the doctors and walked over to the shop to buy some food, I noticed a guy on a big thing (i don't know what it's called - like a crane but its got a platform to get you up to high places - a cherry picker?) and he was holding this big hose and spraying water on the roof, as it was a little dirty. Yes, he was watering the roof.
To top it off, another stupid thing was that he had blocked off the only 2 disabled parking spaces to make way for his big machine thingo (some one tell me what it's called so i can stop saying 'thingo')
It was RAINING, and he felt the urge to water a roof, and prevent the disabled from shopping at the same time!? What a complete moron!

crane, cherry picker are perfectly accepted names for that machine.
You sure it was water? It could have been chemical of some sort. Is there anyone you could report that to? Down here in Florida, we can report that to the county commissioners and get that :censored: fined.

If a man is standing in the rain watering his roof, chances are there's a good reason somewhere behind the madness.

We had some temporary watering restrictions here in certain utility districts. My district was one of them, so no watering of the yard, nor washing the car at least during the day only water at night. Well I'm kinda in a unique situation in that I was in place before the UD existed and we have wells. During the restriction I was reported to the UD for watering my garden. UD person calls and admonishes me for wasting water during a shortage I tell him he doesn't know what he's talking about. A few days later I'm reported again and UD person come to my home and threatens to cut off my water if I do not cease immediatedly.
Me: Listen buddy look at the meter and tell me how much water I'm using.
UDP: Uhhhh the meter isn't moving but you're watering your garden???
Me: That might be because I'm watering from my well and not the UD water.
UDP: Oh, well that's a whole different story, never mind.
Me: Please do me a favor and tell that tattle-telling0busy-body to mind their own business.
Rerail: I call those bucket trucks and I'd dare say the guy had a very good reason. Sometimes it takes high pressure water to fix certain things.

You know, I never actually thought about that, but it would make sense. Maybe it wasn't water, maybe he was innocently spraying chemicals onto the shopping center roof (which was being blown around a bit and people below were looking a little annoyed.) Honestly I don't know why they would go to all the trouble of doing that, all to get rid of some dirt. People don't look up, noone would care if it wasn't clean.
ah but corporate cares if theres dirt anywhere in a store, even if its on the outside or somewhere no one can see it

Waste of water!
It was raining the other day when I was going to work. It wasn't just a little spritz. It was downhard pour, and a Ford dealership had their water sprinklers on out front.
Too bad nobody cares about conservation.

The problem is most businesses tend to have sprinklers on timers, and the majority of the staff neither know nor care to know how to turn off the sprinklers for that day.
Small confession. I'm huge into conservation for just about everything (electricity, recycling, public transport) except water. And I have no clue why. I just can't train my self to turn the faucet off for the minute between uses when I'm washing dishes or something similar. :o
