How lame is this one...400 people fired by e-mail. And you'll never guess by whom ;) .

That's cold. Even if they did tell people ahead of time that terminations would be sent out electronically, it's still the most untactful way to do it.

In some way I was not surprised to learn which company it was...

Cowards indeed. I wonder how the higher-ups would react to getting much the same treatment.

Yeah, I used to work for that company. I get on my knees every day and thank Blind Io that I got out. It doesn't surprise me a bit. Most companies treat their employees like crap... these guys go above and beyond!

I do not suffer from the politically correct knee-jerk hatred of all things corporate, but I have to say this has got to be one of the coldest, most inhuman ways to go about this I've ever seen. I will not be at all surprised to find out that some victim of this went postal because of it.

I have a feeling that somewhere out there are 400 broken computers...

Good grief . . .just when one thinks companies cannot be any more insensitive, another one has to prove us wrong.

I've only worked for 2 companies since I've been in the workforce that shut down. Both of them informed us IN PERSON at that.

Imagine such a concept.

First company (a department store chain that was based up north) gave us 6 month warning. They also helped us to find other employement.

Second company gave us almost a month notice and an option out. We could opt to stay with the company, as they still had locations in the area. However, we weren't guaranteed anything, so most of the folks at my store took the separation agreement and walked (myself included).

Company 2 left the area last year completely, leaving a good number of folks to find work elsewhere.

But at least we were given some notice and what options we had, even if there were no options.

Sad to see that common courtesy is going the way of Tara . . . with the wind.
