My two daughter are lovers of Gaia. They received a message and I thought that I would pass it on as I thought that it was of the utmost importance:

Admin wants everyone on gaia to know about this..

"Tell everyone in your buddy list not to open anything from angell11, tewwtuler, and sassybitch. Its a harddrive killer and a very horrible virus. If you dont pass this letter to everyone on your buddy list, we will delete your account. We need to find out who is really behind this."

So do what it says.. just to be on the safe side..Better safe then sorry right?

Even if you don't go on Gaia, you may have friends or relatives that use it. I didn't think that it would hurt anything to put this message here.

One: How are they going to be able to tell if you don't pass it on?

Two: There are no hard drive killer viruses. Sure, they can wipe data, but mdoern hard drives cannot be totalled to unusability by software.

I suspect a hoax aimed at causing spam - it has the classic signs - but try checking with the Gaia admins first.

It's spam to clog up gaia system. Admins would never ask you to send their mail to someone else. They can send a global mail to everyone themselves.

Hard drive killers programs are near impossible to create. I say near because there is a way but those dumbass virus writers aren't clever enough to figure that out. Beside most virus don't want to "crash" your system because they want your computer working so it can spread out farther.

Plus, and I'm assuming this is word for word from the message, the admins would know hard drive is two words.

And no one will ever delete your account for not forwarding something. I've gotten things threatening me like that for hotmail, AIM, and paypal. I didn't respond, just deleted, and still have all my accounts. Delete that message fast and don't forward.
