I'm a HUGE music person, and I've seen soooooooo many concerts. We've had a "list the concerts you've seen" thread before, but I thought in this one, we could pick a few favorites and talk about them. I have too many to name, but I will choose a few.

Dave Matthews Band
I've seen them more times than I can count, and yet every time I have an amazing time, and dance until I cannot stand. No show is never the same, because they're really a jam band, and Dave throws a few lyrics in there from off the top of his head. Just amazing, amazing stuff. I grew into myself on DMB music.

Tori Amos
I've seen her three times, and all three times she was beautiful and amazing. I grew into a a woman because of Tori, and her music has helped me through so much. It's cliched, I know, but that's the only way I can word it. I saw her in '98 on the Plugged tour in St. Louis, then twice on the Scarlet's Walk tour. Once in St. Louis, and another time we drove to Indianapolis.

Nine Inch Nails
Saw them when they toured for Fragile and MY GOD. NOTHING compares to seeing them in concert. No video or CD can do it justice. I didn't get to see the With_Teeth tour at all, (too poor :( ) But it was just amazing back when we did see them. They had the three big screens, and the visuals were breathtaking next to Trent's voice. Man. Get goosebumps thinking about it now!

Okay, now it's your turn!

I've been to a lot of concerts as well. The two that come to mind as the best showmen were AC/DC and N' Sync.

Yes, I said N' Sync.
I took my son and his friend to see them at Sandstone Ampitheater. They put on a very high energy show on a multilevel stage that is simply brilliant. Even the parents who looked unhappy to be there were up dancing by the end.

I saw AC/DC at Kemper Arena for the Razor's Edge tour. When I say "they" were good showmen I really just mean Angus Young and their special effects guys. The rest of the band just stayed out of the way as Angus ran around like a madman and giant demons busted out of the back of the stage.

Godsmack put on amazing show when I saw them at the HFStival
They had a contest, not sure if it was for that concert only or what, but they had a guest drummer who won the contest so not someone already famous
They had pyrotechnics, the singer was high energy, it was several years ago so i dont remember everything but it was amazing

Most of the acts I saw at that HFStival put on a great show, especially Hot Hot Heat who wasnt really famous yet
It was an amazing concert

Godsmack/MetallicA

Godsmack was touring with 'TallicA in 2004, and I saw them in Madison and Milwaukee (also had offers to see them in Green Bay and in NJ, but had to pass).

Godsmack was beyond words. Sully (the lead singer) played the bongos and drums AND had a drumming contest with the drummer. That alone was worth the price to get in.

MetallicA, IMO, was great too! They are my all time favorite band, and this was my 1st and 2nd times seeing them (I was sick when they came around on the M2K tour, so my older sis went with Becks, instead), and I thought they were awesome. The only criticism I heard was from people who saw them back in the early 90s, so according to those fans, this was nothing.

I, along with Becks, my nephew and my older sis (if I get the tickets that were promised to me) are all going to see Godsmack on the 12th. Thanks Becks!!!! :worship: :yourock: :super: :salute:

:super: :worship: MetallicA's M2K tour...January 3rd, 2000. AWESOME!!!!!!! Kid Rock and Sevendust opened, but I was whoring out raffle tickets, so I could go backstage after the concert. Met Jason Newstead.

September 12th of this year, I will be in Milwaukee going deaf at a Godsmack concert (if Bella's taking me..). :D

(You're welcome, Lizziebeff!!!!!!)

I have seen some very good shows, if I could list all of them I would but my favorites are:

Red Hot Chili Peppers: My favorite band, they were energetic, got the entire crowd dancing and they pretty much blew my hearing for the night. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Paul McCartney: Saw him last year, one of my favorite shows. Played his stuff, some Beatles stuff and everyone was singing along, he got the entire crowd to sing along to Hey Jude for 20 minutes straight.

Queen with Paul Rodgers: Saw them earlier this year, Paul did very good for Queen. They played Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, and We Will Rock You, all the good stuff. Brian May is an awesome guitarist and he blew me away.

Sonic Youth: Saw them last month, very fun show and a touch unique knowing Sonic Youth. Had a lot of fun at that one and made a few friends there.

Shows I want to see: Beck, White Stripes, Air, Daft Punk, and U2.

"Weird Al" Yankovic in 2000 was my fav. Yes, I'm a geek. :D

I also went to see Billy Joel 2x, once in college and once in Buffalo. I enjoyed the first one better than the second, because, honestly, a hockey arena (HSBC) does not a good concert sound make. :(

I went to see the Cranberries, but that was another good experience tainted by the venue. Darien Lake Amusement Park (before it became a Six Flags) - one narrow exit road. Sheesh.

I think my favorite concert was Train at Schuba's in Chicago. I have seen them 3 times total, but that was very cool in such a small venue. Pat Monahan has a fabulous rapport with the crowd and is hilarious.

I also liked Bowling for Soup when hubby and I went to see them at Pierre's in Fort Wayne, In. Again, the lead singer, Jaret Reddick, is hilarious as is the entire band, and the music is great.

Of course, you can never go wrong with the Violent Femmes. I've seen them 5 times and every one was great.

I guess I really can't pick a "favorite favorite" but those were all great.

The Strokes!!!

Probably because they are my favorite band, but I thought Julian Casablancas put on an amazing show. I was so stoked to see it. And it lived up to every expectation.

Def Leppard would have to be the best experience. Only because:

A.) They are by far my favorite band
B.) I've met them in person (except Rick Allen :( )back in 99' (Euphoria Tour)
C.) They started my infatuation with music

I've seen em 3 times so far and "in the round" was one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Then we have Poison who had the Damn Yankees and Firehouse open.

AWSOME show!!!

Lets see, then i have a few country bands I've seen.

Tim McGraw, Blackhawk, and JoDee Messina

Brooks and Dunn, David Lee Murphy and JoDee Messina

Alabama, Trick Pony, and Trace Adkins. (WI Valley Fair)

Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio, and Clay Walker

ahh the memories. :D

U2, Tempe AZ 1987. Yeah, it's a long time ago, but I still remember it. U2 were very enthusiastic and energetic (and gorgeous, but that's beside the point ;) ). There were statements against then-governor Evan Mecham (anyone remember him?) and his cancellation of MLK Day. But most importantly, the music was so energetic, so beautiful, it transcended mere adrenaline into a spiritual experience.

I haven't seen them in concert since. I was hoping to see them on their most recent tour, but my finances prohibited it.

I haven't been to many concerts...

However...I did get to see The Rolling Stones a few months back. Even though they're in their 60s, they can still perform. Pearl Jam started things off. They're OK...I'm just not a fan :p Who else? Billy Joel put on a good show in '94, as did Don McLean (of American Pie fame), and Mamas and the Papas (at the Pittsburgh Regatta) some years before. I was hoping to see Steely Dan in concert and/or Chicago this year...but with my recent house purchase, that didn't happen

*pics*

I live in St. Joseph, Missouri, so this is the show I SHOULD have seen. I lit up 98.9 FM on the radio when they were giving away tickets.

Also, THANK YOU for the pictures. I've had a mildly concerning obsession with all things Trent Reznor since the age of 18. So I quite enjoyed the pics. And by "quite" I mean "drooled a lot."

Sorry if I sound like a dippy fangirl. But this is the female who only started dating the man that is now her husband because he looked like Trent Reznor circa "A Perfect Drug." Yep. I'm pathetic. But I do adore the music. That man has made some of the most beautiful music ever. Even when he's angry, it still manages to be beautiful. And it is the best angry music ever.

Sorry to hijack my own thread, but this is one of my favorite topics in life, and I could easily go on for a while, but I'll cut myself off. Back to the normal conversation at hand.

I saw Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Joe Cocker, Watts, Woods, Wyman (from the Stones) Paul Rogers and a bunch more all together at a MS benifit concert for Ronnie Lane. (he was there too) Back in 198? The highlight was Page starting Stairway To Heaven and Clapton, Beck and the rest joining in.

Unfortunately not too many really good shows come very close to my area, so I'd have to go with these...

KISS on their Reunion Tour in 1997 was awesome - I've seen them 4 times and that was the best (I did so much screaming I lost my voice for 4 days after the show), although at the Farewell Tour in 2000, we had really close seats, so that was excellent, too.

Def Leppard both times - love them!!

Nickelback - love the pyro!

Thornley - they played at a local bar, and we got right up front - that was so much fun!

Just saw Rob Zombie in July - what an awesome stage show!!!

Aerosmith in 2004 - first time I ever saw them, so that was so sweet.

The Trews and Theory of a Deadman played at the fair last month - both put on an excellent show.

That's about it...

I have been to several..and I loved them all..
Journey(three times)
Alabama(four times)
Eagles
John Mellencamp
Meatloaf

There are more..mainly some older country and several christian concerts..too numerous to write out. I would say that Eagles was the best as far as floor show..and John Mellencamp for instruments.
