I'd post the link but can't seem to find it.
Anyway, the last book in the HP series is going to be broken into two movies, because "elements of this book just can't be omitted (paraphrased),"
Great. One 3-hour movie devoted to Harry and Hermione camping in the woods. That will be a blockbuster.
The link can probably be found in Yahoo.

I keep hearing both sides of it, one day it's split and the next, it's one film. Though I'm keen to agree with Knightmare; they could snip 90% of the camping stuff and you won't hear a single complaint from me

i think its more than just them camping. there is so much that goes on. getting harry away from the house, the wedding, finding all the horcruxes, alot of stuff happens, and it isn'tjust them sitting in the woods camping.
the fight at the end...yeah, who wants to see that cut down to 30 minutes just so people don't have to see two movies? not me. that is a huge battle, and i want to be able to expierence as much as possible in a movie.
im glad that they are mkaing two movies. there is so much packed into the final book, that they would ahve to cut ALOT(more than any other harry potter movie) just to get it to three hours.

The last movie was just so terrible, they cut so much out, it didn't make sense, and having the last book cut into 2 movies will include a lot more.
In the last movie, they cut out the bit about Lily helping Snape in the memory, which is just so huge and important!!!
And they screwed up the Weasley Twins exit sequence, which I had really been looking forward to.

I thought the same things when we saw OOTP. Unfortunately the same director is doing HBP and both parts of DH.
I just want to see Molly kick ass! Is that too much to ask?
What I want to know is where are they going to cut it to create two movies. I have an idea of where I think it should be, but I want to know what they are going to do with it.

They did cut a lot from the last film, however, from what I understand, other things have been given the cut in the final two adaptations as well. The Gaunts, for one, which I find disappointing, because they play a HUGE part in the overall story. Bill and Fluer will take a cut as well, though it's rumored that there will be a Lupin/Tonks wedding to replace theirs. There also seems to be no word on Fred and George's store being included in the sixth movie.
Ah well. I guess we'll just have to take what we get. I haven't been terribly impressed with the movies up till now, so I won't expect any different with the ones upcoming. Blah.

IMNSHO, they should've done HP as a series. Season 1 could've covered books 1 and 2, season 2 could've covered book 3, etc etc.

Bill and Fluer will take a cut as well :eek:
Waitaminnit, how could they cut that!?!? That was where Harry gets the bauble that reads "I open at the close" IIRC, and Hermione gets the fairy tale book that helps them put some of the pieces together about the nature of the Horcruxes, and then they're scattered after the wedding is attacked! It would be like Star Wars without the "I am your father" scene!!

I SOOOOOOO wanted the portable swamp sequence in the movie but I had to settle for the weasleys wizzing fireworks instead just not the same effect

I want Molly Weasley doing a Lt. Ripley to Belletrix. I WANT THAT I WANT THAT I WANT THAT esp after reading that chapter in the book. I really though JK liked a certain movie near the end a lllliiiitttttlllleeee to much in that scene
I'd say they are going to cut it somewhere around the Godric's Hollow part or the sequence right before Ron comes back gets Griffindor's sword and destroys the locket horcrux or maybe as the three are captured and locked in the Malfoys basement dougeon. the last 8 or 10 chapters of the book is where most of the REAL action takes place where they could make awhole movie out of those

*snip*
Actually, I think he receives the Snitch at his birthday party; the wedding is when Kingsley's patronus warns them that Scrimgeour is dead, and then they scatter. The trio already have their things from Dumbledore's will at that point. And they can cut it since Bill has not gotten anymore than a mention (or has he? I know Charlie has) in any of the films, and adding a 'new' character would prove to be to complicated for them. Or his introduction would be so abrupt that the non-reading audience won't know who he is and get a chance to care about him. It's a shame, since I always enjoy his bits in the stories, he seems like the kind of big brother that would be really nice to have around. And they have to conspire with Griphook in Shell Cottage, so I dunno really.
they should've done HP as a series
That could have worked really, really well, save for the fact that we might not have gotten the same actors. And I can't imagine anyone but Rickman, Smith and Coltrane in their respective parts; they're one good set of things that have come from the film adaptations.
Personally, I think they should have waited until the series was finished as books before jumping into films. We may not have seen crucial things cut, like the Snape and Lily scene from OotP.

I know!!! I wanted to see the mayhem leading up to the exit, the damned broomsticks crashing through the office door, and was it too much to ask to see the entire fireworks episode, including Umbridge running around trying to put them out and no one helping her????And I loved that little conversation they had in the book with Harry about 'toeing the line' and knowing when to cross it, and how 'phase 1' was about to begin.
And what about Hagrid trying to be arrested???? I wanted to see him kick some butt!
I do fully admit that the Thestrals looked almost exactly as I pictured them.

I'll agree the movies do seem like they are some kind of wierd parrallel harry potter universe from the books. But thats pretty usual when they make movies from books. They never get the things we personally want to see in the movie.
Yeah a lot of thigns where cut from the movies that I would have liked to have seen as well. Or thigns where different than what I saw in my mind when I read the book. But unless we make the movie ourselves we arnt goign to get that and if I make a movie with what I like and see when i read the book someone else is gonna log on somewhere on the web and start griping about my choice in anythign. So I'm not really gonna gripe about the way they make the movies. I want to see a particular scence I'll go back and read the book and use my imagination. A lot cheaper and usually better special effects ;)
As for the way they ahve made the movies they have done good enough. They got great actors who while not all of them matched what I thought the characters looked like have done incredibly well. (Except umbridge. While the actress was very effective she just wasnt the right fit.) I'll just be happy to see the movies. And my wife will definately be quite happy.
As for doing a tv or miniseries I dont think that would have improved things. Like was said we probably wouldnt have gotten the same actors. And on a tv series there is a lot tighter time and budget situations to deal with. not to mention the "vision" and other stuff might not translate as well on the small screen as the big screen.
Just my thougts on it.
