and it's quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever owned:

Cost me an arm and a leg, but still. Worth every penny. I picked it up to do artwork for a project. But I'm pondering many other nefarious schemes I could undertake with it....( a friend of mine wants me to do a web comic again. Yes, again. Don't ask. ).

My son has something like that, only much cheaper. Think we paid about $200 for the one he has. I don't know what yours does that his doesn't, but he seems happy with it.
My son has something like that, only much cheaper.Yeah, I was gonna say, my brother has something like that, but I haven't actually seen it. I know he didn't pay that much for it, though, so his must not have a lot of the same capabilities, and must be really basic.
He designed a tattoo, and he was telling me how he had drawn it using something like that so it came up on his computer. I thought it sounded really interesting and I am dying to see it in use, but he's never offered to show it to me or let me use it. :(

I know Jennie (our Sunday artist, which reminds me to get the next one up tonight...) recently got a tablet. Not sure of make, model, or brand, but she had loads of fun figuring it out.
EDITNORE - crap! Ran out of strips! Next one will be a day or two late, I suspect.

Can you tell your mommy and get her to make him share? :p
That's really cool. I have no artistic ability whatsoever, though, so it would be pointless for me. Etch-a-sketch is much more my speed...

You absolute bugger GK, I am most suitably jealous.

They're a lot of fun. I got one from my boyfriend, and it's crazy-awesome the amount of things that can be done with them! Good luck on your project, GK.

He probably has a normal Wacom tablet. They're in the $200-400 range and you can draw directly on them but they have no screen. The Cintiq series costs an arm and a leg because they're basically a thin LCD monitor you can draw directly on with the stylus. Dinged me for quite a bit but I knew I had to have one when I first saw them. ><
The part that keeps making me nerd glee is that I can flip the stylus around and use the other end as an eraser and the stylus actually tells the art program to use the eraser tool when I do. :D

I'm not even a gadget geek but that sounds like fun. I'd be drawing stuff just to erase it. :D

Yeah, mine ran me $1200 total by the time taxes and shipping were factored in. >< But I desperately needed one for my sinister plotting. I considered just getting the the tablets, but then you still need to either be drawing on a paper on the tablet or constantly looking up at the screen. I figured I may as well go for broke rather then blow $300 on a tablet and end up replacing it with a Cintiq later.
Its so so SO much better then having to sketch, scan, spend an hour cleaning it up, etc etc.

We have two labs with tablet PCs in them. Dear Gord, I had soo much fun! I got to take one home for the weekend to get the hang of it, so I could support it.
Not quite the same thing, but...

Oh man, I want one of those things so freaking bad. Drawing and inking on the paper takes so freaking long and then coloring with the lasso tool is such a pain in the BUTT.
$1200 though? Oy. That's a long ways away. .../jealous

OOO... I want... I've got a regular tablet and I've been looking into a tablet laptop but the laptop doesn't have the same sensitivity level. :( Can I come over to your house and use it? I'm willing to make the drive :p

Very Cool. If I had an artistic bone in my body for drawing, I'd neeeeed one. Sadly, I can only write and tell stories. :p
P.S.--When you take over the world, can I be Minister of Paintball Gun Justice? Or maybe Salmon Beating Administering Czar? SaBAC...I like it. :salmon:

I was too envious to even comment the first time I saw your post. I got to try out with one of the 21" versions at Wondercon 2007. Both my sons were allowed to try it out. It was the hardest booth to walk away from all weekend.
